I have these 210g hubs at home . The ratchet is fully detachable from the hub body. But the free hub, you're description is correct. I attached a photo.
No wear out part should be included in the main hub body.. the free hub can be exchanged. As you could do with a pawl system when you were not willingly to replace the single pawls and/ or the spring.

Are spare ratchets sold by goldix any good?

Here is how my 36t goldix ratchet looks after 1600 ish KM of light gravel, road, commuting and grocery haul usage. I caked them with Mobilegrease 28 every 400KM. Had ZERO issue with slipping under load even tho people warn you that caking the ratchet in grease is really bad for it. Yeah this grease is made for aviation and helicopter bearings but it just works.

I got the same hubs but the ratchet mechanism is slipping under load.
Opened the hubs trying to find the issue without any luck.
Did your hubs turn out ok and what seller did you order from?

Sad to hear that, I just know once the ratchets slip , they are damaged and the slipping will not recover but only get worse.

I ordered at newbike store.
During summer time I don't build wheels (unless there's a need for, e.g.  a rim got an impact)
So I can't tell you about the reliability of mine.
 I also must tell that I might not be the best reference as I usually don't have issues on the drive train with sudden/ early dead.  I simply don't have that high absolute Power output, I also prefer high cadences.. so putting both together  also the torques and forces are low.
W/kg may be high.. but that's not destroying free hubs luckily.

The New goldix meshing ratchets arrived and it sounds way deeper than the old one. The spring that comes with it its way stiffer and longer compared to the normal ones. Made a short of how it sounds in my frame and ofc my samsung buthered the audio quality but you can kinda hear the deep rumble. I kept the old spring in the hub side and used the new one in the cassete side. Might install the second old spring to increase the stiffness.

Well yeah but then its a letdown in sound and feel. The new spring overpowers the old one anyways. Asked the goldix store and they said nothing bad will happen. With one spring its supposed to work like a bootleg EXP but it causes slipping under load.

What hubs do you have it in? Goldix uses fairly specific spacer which keeps the outer spring seat a bit closer then when you have it directly against bearing. I have 2 Venfort hubs and one has only 1spring and similar captive spacer (there is taper where the spring washer sits) and found out that when I did use wrong endcap, it slipped.

What hubs do you have it in?

GDX370 without the white label. The first thing i did when got the hub was order a second spring and white washer as its actual garbage with those. Hub > white washer > spring > ratchet-ratchet < spring < white washer < freehub. The original DT design uses two springs but most chinese clones cheap out and only gives you one. With one sping you're way more likely to slip under load than without. With no sping in the hub side the freehub rachet have to get out of the splines to properly engage with the hub side ratchet.
When you compare the og DT design you see that the ratchets are solid while the clones are hollow requring both spacers for proper function.

Would you choose the "in-house" SR228 from serenadebikes or the Goldix R180SL hubs you can get with a lot of wheelsets on Aliexpress?

Asking because I'm considering to buy a new wheelset and that's the main difference between the two

The serenade 228 front hub is laced like every regular 1:1 cross laced wheel.

That's the rim brake version. My disc brake wheels are crossed both sides front and back.

For rim brake  the forces in the hub are different 

However.  The 1:1 design for the disc brake is indeed not very smart.  But goldix has a bunch of very similar hubs in their naming.  The 180 ultra have 1:1 with both sides crossed pattern

Great point, I'm using the 180 SL on one wheelset, the radial spoking is something I don't like that much
