TanTan TT33
« on: August 18, 2022, 03:18:40 AM »
I have narrowed my search down to potentially the TT X-33. Looks like a decent balance of modern geometry, T1000 carbon and price.

http://tantancycling.com/index.php?_m=mod_product&_a=view&p_id=1026

I am looking for guidance on sizing between the 540 and 560.

Currently riding a 10yr old Carbon Pinarello and have  been fitted by a professional bike fitter.

I have measured the current frame and am confident these dimensions are accurate within a few mm.

Current bike:
Reach 386
TT length horizontal 560
Stack 563
Wheelbase 991
Chainstay length 410
Front centre 595
BB drop 80
BB height 265
Head tube length 160

Currently using 100 mm stem no spacers and 420 wide bars.

Would like to go to narrower bars.

Comments on sizing please.

The seatpost seams to have an angle as well. I would check as well the seat tube angle of the Pinarello. It may have a wider angle, in comparison then the X-33 seat will be a bit more backwards. Maybe you can find the info on Geometry Geeks and do a comparison there. Personally I would go 540 and you could still get a slightly longer Stem in case, but it is guessing without seeing the Pinarello geometry....

Thanks, I have searched long and hard to find the geometry to no avail.

Which model was it?

and have  been fitted by a professional bike fitter.

Can you provide your actual bike fit measurements? This would be extremely helpful rather than just posting the geometry of a 10-year old bike.

A professional bike fitter can (technically) fit you to any bike/frame within reason. However, while the geometry of a frame will be dynamic from bike to bike...your overall bike fit measurements/data points should remain constant

2009 FP3 in 54cm looks to be the frame.

Unfortunately I do not have that information. The bike fit was to fine tune existing bike and make minor changes to saddle, bar and cleat positions.

Ok, here the comparison on Geometry Geeks https://geometrygeeks.bike/compare/tantan-tt-x33-2022-54,tantan-tt-x33-2022-56,pinarello-fp3-2009-540/

Then you measured the Reach at 386, you are closer to a 54 than a 56 for the TT33. Only the Head Tube and the stack are lower so I would think it is a more aggressive position. If you take a 56 you may have to take a shorter Cockpit (but I would not go below 90) and maybe you can put the saddle slightly forward but you may be quite stretched... Your fitter should be able to give you a sound advice.

Thank you so much for that. I'll look into it in detail shortly.

here we were already talking about the TT X 33

http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,3635.msg36214.html#msg36214

reach and stack are the same as SL7, the chainring is 5mm longer on the TTx33

So overall SL7=trifox 18 = XX-33 = Vb r 168

Well I been hearing from multiple sources that frame sizes are becoming over sized. And you can no longer believe the "size" and you actually have to look at the geometry and actually numbers
Off with your Head tubes...

Uhm if the frames are identical to Specialized SL7 geometry, then just go by Specialized geo chart and decide. Thats what I did, I knew I needed a 54cm frame and that is what I ordered.

I meant in industry in general.

The "size" number has been subjective for long time - the same person could ride size 54 bike from one brand and size 56 from other brand. Going by geometry is the best way to choose a frame. Tho it seems to be true that because of current trend of road bikes (less stack, more reach), people end up using size larger frames than usual.
