Traditional cable routing options????

I'm wanting to build up a gravel bike but would really prefer not routing through the headtube. Maybe I just need to get with the times and accept thats the new norm?

I was first thinking an alu Seaboard frame but its limited to 42mm tires, and after shipping its pretty close to the carbon options. The only traditional routing offerings with good tire clearance seem to be the flyxii fe-02 or carbonda 696. Significant price difference between these two. Flyxii comes out to about $500, and the 696 just about $800.

Are there other options I'm missing?

The Carbonda 707 can also be purchased with traditional routing. It's probably about the same price as the 696 but the geometry is a bit different. Tire clearance is probably a hair less than the 696, but I'm running 700x50 mm tires with a bit of clearance. (These measure 51 mm / 2.0" and I wouldn't go any bigger.)


I'm happy with mine - it handles anything from smooth roads to slightly technical singletrack really well.

I routed the cables outside to keep the radiuses gentle for hydro/mechanical breaks and easy maintenance.
Very happy with the frame so far. Tires up to 700x45 in my case riding with 700Cx38 and plenty of room left in the frame.

How much spacers did you stack below the stem?
I need to build a bike for a very tall person, and wondering what could be a limit.

I had seen this in the other thread, but the geo puts me oddly between sizes. Ended up pulling the trigger on the flyxii.

Just checked there are 50mm of spacers below the stem, I would not go much higher…

I recently heard that the fork you receive is safe to use as is, with enough spacers and no need to cut it.
I guess a full steerer length in an XS headtube stretches this theory to its limit

@chrisb I ordered that frame a few weeks ago but in the green brown gloss colour and have a donor 105 groupset bike to move stuff off of. Can you go through (or if you have a build page accept my appologies!) the gearing ie front chainring size/make and the same with the cassette? any any other nuggets to help with a new build!

Did you get the 386BB or the new T47 BB frame?
I have the 386BB and installed an old 105 crankset combined with a Stone chainring with 42 teeth.
The 105 crankset did not need any adjustments or spacer it just worked perfect with the Sensor SRX Pro derailleur and 11-46 Ztto Casette... my guess is that a GRX would work without problems as well.

Just last week I changed the crankset to the Racework N1 carbon combined with Sigeyi Powermeeter and a 44 tooth Stone chainring.
This combination still needs testing on a longer ride but so far looks and feel good.

The BB386 version I think! as the advert had both pictures, was planning on using a token BB386 BB then do like you with the chainset but I went 40t front and 11-40t rear. I have some alex ra1.9 rims and will then panaracer or wtb 38s or 40s but think I need an extender for the rear mech.

Resurrecting this thread for anyone who might be looking for regular internal routing. Chasing Wind has an updated frame I’m interested in since I’m not too happy with my flyxii.
