A month ago I entered a Wheeltop contest and this week I was notified I won 1st place. Now I have a Wheeltop EDS TX groupset shipping my way! Anyways, I'm wondering what's the max cassette i can put on this groupset? I'm thinking of doing 50-34t + 10-36t if possible for my climbing bike.

People have reported 11-36 with a 16t gap at the front working, so I'd be surprised if 10-36 didn't work. Good stuff on the win and let us know how you get on with it!

I entered the Wheeltop rebuild contest and sent photos of my GeX equipped gravel bike. I guess they liked my build!

I'm debating if I should put it on my other 52-36t road bike instead. I'd prefer having the larger 10-36t cassette on that bike to get a true 1:1 low gearing.

I finished my LC018-D build with the EDS TX and a 52/36T Chainring and 11-36 cassette.

Used the big/big cog chain sizing method and it works so far.
The RD will block to use the last two smallest cogs due to the chain protection mode.
When I'm on the 3rd smallest (so the last which it will shift to) in the back and small in the front, the chain has slack.
Have to remove one link from the chain to avoid the slack.

If I'm in biggest/biggest cog, the chain is a bit "short" at the moment, but I was told that you don't do this when riding

Newbie question, how do you know it’s time to stop fine tuning? I’ve run my tx for 1k km without issues but recently on an indoor trainer I noticed that something is a little bit loud down there. Chain is not rubbing anything, is routed correctly, gears are changing up and down quickly and firmly. It might be waxing chain or different acoustics of my garage but it seems loud    I am also wondering when to stop fine tuning because a lot of people complain about how tricky it is to setup RD but in my case it went smoothly (or is not good enough:) ) so my question what are the metrics of perfectly tuned eds tx derailleurs?

Did you move the bike to a wheel off trainer? If so, you may need to retune for that cassette. One of the beauties of the third party app is that you can save configs.
That said, my Tx seemed to need a touchup every 500 mi or so when using a ztto cassette. Not sure if it was the cassette or the derailleur "drifting". Have switched to a Goldix one piece which shifts much nicer out of the box, so we'll see.

You'll have issues. The max capacity in stated as 36 and 52-36 (16 diff) and 11-36 (25 diff) requires a derailleur with a 41 capacity. You'll have to give up something. I ran a 50-34 with 11-34 for a bit which was 39 and that required a slack chain in the smaller last cogs in the little ring. To me, that was better than having the drivetrain lock if you mistakenly went big/big. If you can find an ospw with the same cage length it might help, but if the ospw is any shorter than the stock cage it won't.

I might use the Wheeltop auto shifting to protect from this 🤔

I thought I read here you can program the system to shift to small ring if you attempt to go into the lowest 2 gears while in the big ring. I haven’t received my EDS yet, so someone with more knowledge or a manual will have to confirm. I’ve used OSPW on my 11 speeds  to turn short / medium range RDs into long cage and increase the range, but you’ll still need chain capacity and should avoid going small small at the other end of the range 😉

There is only, for my Knowledge a auto-trim function, that it will adjust the FD to the chain when shifting in the back.

I received my carbon EDS TX today and it looks fantastic! I charged the mechs and was pleased to see the system worked straight away! Currently shifting 11 on the back, I’m sure I can reprogram this when I look into it 🤔😊
