Hello everyone, unfortunately my EGR stopped working and died suddenly. I reported the problem to the 80 Designer Store where I purchased the equipment. Unfortunately, they completely ignored me, didn't respond to my requests, and ultimately, the matter was referred to AliExpress support. Ultimately, I was forced to disassemble the entire assembly and return it, and AliExpress refunded me the amount I paid. Unfortunately, the tax I paid hasn't been refunded.

thermal expansion? how hot does your garage get?

Shed/garage, Newfoundland, Canada, probably mid 20's inside during the summer at most. It's well insulated. I am thinking it has to do with the air screw. If I back off the small hex a quarter turn or so in the brake lever it helps for a few weeks and then happens again. I am going to do a fresh bleed soon and start over.

I've been trying to see if they'll sell me replacement derailleur cage arms for my eGR using the new, longer arms designed for the v2. They initially told me they didn't have access to v2 or v2 parts since they weren't stocked yet and told me to check back when they were in stock. I checked back in now that they're selling them, and they're telling me they just can't sell them to me. So... I don't know, maybe the days of great post-sale service from 80 Designer Store are over?

46-30t with an 11-46t cassette? Are you bike touring or climbing up vertical walls?

Yeah 80 Design Store seems to have gone downhill. What's up with the EGR? Prices are way higher than the current V3 ER9/ERX on AliEx. Also the price for the ERX isn't even worth it on Ali. Better off buying from Panda Podium for $649 USD and get legit customer support. At least for US customers, they're not charging sales tax (yet).

BTW - I just received a dual port battery holder for my EGR and I have a spare ERX FD I purchased prior to the orange turd tariffs. I'm thinking of trying out the 2x setup!

I read a theory elsewhere that both LTWOO and Wheeltop may be de-emphasizing out-of-China sales right now (for 'reasons') and that in-China gravel sales aren't that big (as a share). The combination leaves them less aggressive about market penetration through the overseas sellers like Aliexpress for the electronic and eGR in particular.

Related point is that Wheeltop didn't stay at that competitive intro price very long after launch of the GeX. US list is allegedly $799 but they have one sale or another most of the time to bring it to ~$530. LTWOO probably sees no point right now in pushing share at a lower price.

I'm also curious what the play will be from LTWOO now that Wheeltop is about to roll out the new "Rotor" (they bought Rotor a few months ago) full groupset.

What I'm hearing from cyclists in China it's either road bikes or mountain bikes. There doesn't seem to be much appeal for gravel over there. In fact I constantly get asked why gravel is so popular in the US. LTwoo must be selling and churning out more ER9/X groupsets and they'll probably sell a bunch of ER7 groupsets as an OEM option for entry level bikes. I now have to be a bit more careful with my EGR RD since it's not as easy or cheap to replace.

FYI, I attached a photo of how the upcoming ROTOR groupset. Looks like a rebranded Wheeltop groupset, but will probably have more appeal in western markets with the ROTOR name association.

My derailleur had a problem and 80 designer store is sending me a new one. But this one doesn't have a charging port ! Where is it ? erX have the usb C on the front derailleur no ?

Is that an EGR or ER9/X rear derailleur? EGR hasn't received any version updates, but for ver. 3 ER9/X, you'll need the USB type-C port on the FD to charge the groupset. Worse case scenario is to charge your 14500 batteries separately after a few hundred kilometers/miles.

Really? Better contact 80 Design Store and ask them. Plus inform us what you find out. This is definitely a new change to the groupset. It might account why it's been harder to find EGR groupset deals due to hardware revision changes.

Surprise : you have to use a new cable that plugs directly on the battery cable that goes out of your frame.

Had to pay again for shipping.

Would have been nice to send it directly with the derailleur IMO.

I was really hoping for a usb C.

So now you have to unplug the RD battery cable and attach it to the USB charging cable? That's even worst than the magnetic charging option. I just clean my eGR RD charging port with a swab and alcohol. Darn, now I wish I bought a spare eGR groupset when they were $300 USD.

4) What would it have hurt to keep the existing magnetic charger? Presumably you could still unplug the battery cable and use the new-style charge if you found the magnetic one problematic.

5) I can't help but think of all the people who were uneasy about water-ingress and resorted to, essentially, caulking their battery plug to seal it. I never felt the need to do this, but all of that plugging/un-plugging is going to take its toll on the port and might actually lead to MORE water ingres problems (in addition to bent pins, cracked plugs, fatigued wire joints, etc.). This is a HUGE downgrade in quality.
