Did the spokes go all the way to the end of the nipples? It looks like it fractured where the threads end and could be a sign of spokes that are too short. Once you take the rim tape off take a picture of the nipples in the rim to show how far the spokes go into the nipples.

There is a review of exactly this problem on one of their wheelsets on Aliexpress. I would have both wheels build up with new spoke nippels. I would not dare to trust the nipples they used.

Are you able to link to that review? In my messaging to Easedon they say this is the first time theyve seen this issue - however, perhaps the agent who corresponded with me isn't aware of all the issues?

I haven't removed the tire/rim tape yet. I'll do so and post my findings.

I find that hard to believe. This review is from 17th January: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005006186494119.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.0.0.31d6227a9eabYO&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21EUR%21%E2%82%AC%20673%2C60%21%E2%82%AC%20484%2C99%21%21%21775.14%21558.10%21%4021039e0c17513526528895830e61ef%2112000036183830310%21sh%21DE%210%21X&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu

I removed the rim tape, and pointed a flashlight into the spoke holes - not sure how I would be able to tell if the spokes are too short. Unable to photograph since the wheel is deeper and the end of the spokes are really recessed.

Here are the bits I removed from the wheel after shaking for a bit.

You want the ends of the spokes to be near flush with the end of the nipple. That ensures the entire nipple is engaged with the spoke and adds strength. From where the nipples broke it looks like the spokes are too short.

That's concerning that they can't even work out the correct spoke length to use when building their wheels. Maybe they are trying to cut costs here and there by using shorter spokes ? Who knows.

What wheel and what spokes/nipples did you get?

Would be interested to know how your discussion with them goes.

This one https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807328467109.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.284.134218022TFrvT&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa set up asymmetric in 45mm depth.

Are all the broken nipples from the same side ? Just wondering if it's got anything to do with the asymmetric rim. eg they are still using the same spoke lengths from the symmetric wheel.

On mine (which I haven't mounted yet) at least the spare spokes are of slighly different length and also the mounted spokes appear to be threaded in same to same thread length.

Yes, all from the same side. Wonder about that too.

Thanks for confirming. The logic of an asymmetric rim is to negate the dishing required and "even" the spoke lengths so to speak. As per the other poster above, if the spoke lengths are different to the point where they are too short and not engaging with the entire nipple, then this results in what you experienced. Just be glad all 3 didn't fail at the same time while on the bike.
