Just back from first shakedown ride. Other than a little brake rub, everything looks and feels great. Very happy for my first build. Gear Indexing was a faf - but when I was actually out riding it felt and sounded better than in the bike stand. Hopefully get the YT Vid completed in next day or two.

For a bike that screams „racing“ the spacer stack is waaayyy to high imho. Other than that, nice bike

Finished my first bike build of the Tantan GR201 this week after years of riding an old Pinarello Paris. So far I have logged about 200 kilometers with no issues.
Build process was rather smooth (thanks to the many tips and shared bike builds in the forum!), some difficulties aligning the brake callipers and still some minor brake rub, but should be fine.
Also got a gap of around 3mm between the frame and the fork that seems larger than the gap of other builds. I did not pay attention which bearing to place on top and bottom as I thought they were the same, maybe one is slightly taller which causes the bigger gap? Anyway, don't want to route the cables again so I will leave as is for now.

Running a Shimano GRX 810 1x11 setup with a Magene P515 powermeter and a 46t Riro chainring. The Shimano chain did not really cope well with the narrow wide teeth of the chainring (I think), so I switched to a KMC chain (advised byChatGPT lol). It does feel better, tough not perfect. I don't have any 1x setup with narrow wide teeth as reference but I think narrow wide teeth always have slightly higher resistance, especially at the beginning of the turn (by hand), and run a bit noisier – correct me if I am wrong. So maybe it is just the way it is supposed to be.

For the Magene powermeter I used a 2mm spacer on the drive side, 1mm could also be enough but did not have one at hand. Using no spacer did not work for me because the powermeter base rubbed on the frame or bottom bracket. Unfortunately I already have the M14 screw hole of the non drive side slightly turned through as I installed and uninstalled it 3 times to test the original GRX chainring– Magene offers to send a spare one for 5USD (+ 28USD for shipping!), so maybe ask for a second one right away or be more careful/use better tools than I did.

Have a local event coming up tomorrow with 140km and 1500m in elevation and a big challenge with over 300km and 6000m in elevation next week – will see how the bike and myself perform, especially with the 46t to 40t gear ratio.

:-) Mission accomplished then :-) I wanted to scream racing - but its not for any actual racing. Its my first ever build, I only started cycling a few years ago and its transformed my life - mental and physical health. I wanted to pay a little tribute to the things that have contributed to that journey over the last few years and for me thats Wattbike, Zwift, Joining the Atom Racing Team on Zwift and racing in my fav racing series - FRR. All that has lead to some epic IRL rides in the last 2 years doing things I'd never thought possible on a bike. This bike is my tribute to all those contributing factors.

Built it up last night.
-105 DI2
-Magene PES PM
-2.2 Racekings. Will have to replace the rear, clearance is too tight
-52cm frame
What did you swap the rear to? With a FD max maybe 48 or 50mm?

Do you have the P505 or P515 PM? Did you need/use any spacers or did it fit "as is"?

What tire options are you looking at for that rear wheel?

P505. Used a 1mm spacer. To check for rub I marked the frame with a felt pen, tightened up the cranks and gave a few turns under load. Then I made sure none of the marker was rubbed off by the crank.

Ended up going with THUNDER BURT 2.1. Gave me a bit more clearance. This is with 25mm internal width rims.

Is there any reason the Lexon Thin Line handlebar wouldn't work on this frame? I currently have PRO LT Gravel handlebars on it with a red shift stem so I am trying to match the shape of those more closely and the Thin Line has the same flare whereas the Unox has quite a bit wider flare. I don't know if the stiffness would be a problem since it seems like the Thin Line is designed for road and is probably lighter.

Got pictures of the clearance with TB 2.1 on fd?

Sooo.... 1600 km with this frame which include 2x 220 km rides
It is my main long distance bike now, but for some reason I'm thinking about going full back on XC as a ,,do it all,, since that was always my way before this project
DH-Devinci Wilson carbon 2013 RC,
Enduro-Santa Cruz Hightower C 2023,
XC-Cannondale Scalpel Carbon 2023
and now tourist-Carbon GR201(some may call it a gravel even)

What tri bars are you using? Do they fit well on your aero bars or are you using a round handlebar?

Kocevlo tri bars for aero handlebar with the original Tantan handlebar. Doesn't fit perfectly so I filed the adapter a bit and used protective tape. But it's perfect, it's been around 2000km on it
