Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201

I’ve ordered GR201 from TanTan about 3 weeks ago now, still waiting for shipment. I guess they must be mega busy these days as it seems it was faster earlier in the year. I don’t mind waiting as I had previously ordered a Titanium frame from another company that took so long I gave up and demanded a refund, but that’s another story!

I ordered mine on the 6th of July, I'm still waiting. It was shipped 3 weeks ago but they use China Post so its a slow process. Mine left China on Friday, flew 6 hours and now been stuck at a transfer hub (Probably Singapore) for the last 4 days.

Be patient and it will come, I have faith

Build complete,  about to take on shakedown ride in the Dublin mountains. crept to 9.0kg despite trying to stay as light as possible . Longteng gv201, 35mm wheels from Peter, sram axs mullet setup, panaracer gravelking x1 45mm tyres

Update after shakedown.
Hate hate hate the bartape I used, will be replacing it before next outing. Had to rotate bars away from me, so will need to reposition shifters as a result. Otherwise loving it so far, though taking a bit of time to get used to the AXS compared to mechanical - am used to one lever doing both up-and-down shifts on the cassette. Couple more tweaks to position and all should be good I think.

Is it just me, or is the downtube storage a bit tight? I was hoping/planning to 3dprint a mount for under the cover to hold a co2 cartridge/inflator/tubeless darts, and leave the bag in the storage for other stuff like multitool/TPU tube etc, but I don't think that'll be at all possible....

you'll have to cut the steerer, otherwise a) it will look absolutely awful with that much sticking up above the stem - I've taken about 6cm off mine as a first pass, leaving about 1.5 or 2 to play with, but will ultimately end up with it level with the topcap. and b) I don't know if you will get a compression plug long enough to go deep enough to ensure the stem is clamped around it.

Only other alternative is to have it look like one of those long-necked karen-women and have the spacers under it but will still look absolutely  awful.

Sorry mate I prob didnt explain that well. I’ll definitely get it cut but I’ll prob have my local bike shop do it as I’m too chicken to do it myself 😂

Anyone running a short stem (or short stem/bar combo) on this frame?

I looked at the geometry and feel like I could do both 560 and 580. Never had a gravel bike so my road bike is all I have to compare with.
Currently I'm on the latest Supersix Evo size 58 with 100mm stem and 90mm bar reach.

For the GR201 I'd like the 58 for the stack (so I can slam it more or less) and to avoid toe overlap (size 47/48 shoes and plan on running wide tires). Don't know if toe overlap is a huge issue with how long this bike is but anyway, a concern.

So to replicate the position I could just do 10-15mm shorter stem/bar combo on the GR201-frame, which I guess is no problem. But then again I don't know if I should even sit as long on a gravel bike generally. If I end up wanting to go shorter reach I'm concerned running a 70mm stem or something will make the bike handle weirdly.

If you want a higer Stack and also more toe clearance at the wheels, maybe have a look at the GR208

I have a few questions: I bought the Riro carbon crank. What kind of bottom bracket do you use for this? Can you recommend anything?

I've already read here that the TanTan handlebars aren't that good, so I'd like to order a different pair. What size would you choose for the Lexon Unox?

The frame has a T47 86mm but the riro cranks exist in both 24mm and 30mm versions afaik. You need to figure out which one you bought and buy a T47 86mm according to the crank spindle size

this is entirely personal and nobody can answer that for you. you either get a bike fit or have an existing bike that is comfortable (and comparable in use, a gravel bike isn't a beach cruiser or a TT bike) and shove it in a geometry calculator to see how much reach you need for the same fit

the components you chose are all compatible from what i see, but do bear in mind a road cassette on a 1x gravel bike is going to be quite hard, unless you are very strong or live in a boring shitho-  flat place. alternatively, i'm personally not a fan of shimano rotors after using iiipro rotors

Thanks for the information. The Riro crank is 24 mm. Then I'll probably buy the T47 I.B. Shimano Hollowtec II.

Yes, we only have flat terrain here, but I'll take another look to see if I can install a different cassette. I guess you can replace the Riro chainring? Then I could use a smaller one here, maybe.

Build includes;
GR201 Size 52.
Shimano GRX 1X12 Mechanical.
SLX 10-51 Cassette.
Magene P515 Cranks with Wolftooth 46T chainring. Had to install a 1mm spacer on the drive side to prevent the spider from binding on the frame.
Elite SLR 38mm Gravel wheels.
Schwalbe G-One RS wheels (45mm).
YBN 12s gold chain.

From my parts bin;
Shimano SPD pedals, well used.
Specialized Avatar Saddle.

Chainring has about 2mm clearance at the chain stay.
Will be replacing the 46T with a 42T once it arrives.


Will take it for a shakedown ride in the the morning.
