Road bike handlebars with quick aerobars attachment
« on: February 06, 2024, 06:19:03 AM »
Hello,

I bought a Canyon Aeroad some time ago. I am now looking for a handlebar for a mid-distance triathlon to which I can quickly and easily attach aerobars.

The following points are important to me:

- classic lower handlebars / road bike handlebars
- quick and easy attachment of aerobars
- integrated cable routing
- aerodynamically shaped

I have already found a handlebar from Cube that meets my requirements. However, I find it very expensive at just under € 500. (https://www.cube.eu/cube-basebar-stem-combination-litening-aero-tt-cockpit-system/ceb9cd81d29004abc773b475b8c8012c)

Is there perhaps something cheaper from China?

Thank you very much.

I wanted to do the same thing and I saw this :

I didn't buy it because I don't trust it. I am looking for buying lightweight alloy stem and alloy handlebar with carbon aerobar instead. However I have to find an internal cables stem compatible with my washers.

Is it a current gen Aeroad? If so, not sure you can make anything not from Canyon fit as they have that proprietary carbon quill design.

The reviews for this product arent encouraging. I have the "original" J bend version of Vision 4d MAS system bar on my gravel bike and if you arent looking for a ton of flare its a fantastic bar. The aero attachments lack angle adjustment but they are otherwise excellent. They were / are a stock item on the Cannondale System Six so bike shops may have the base bar available as a new take off for really cheap which is how i got mine.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, the reviews are anything but good.

Yes, it is Aeroad CF SLX 8 Di2.

Canyon itself sells a handlebar for the Grail that fulfills many requirements. Unfortunately, this is a Grail handlebar with flair and the 800€ seems quite expensive to me. I have already asked the support team whether something like this will be available for the Aeroad in the near future. Unfortunately, the support team was unwilling or unable to provide any information.
Then I'll probably have to keep looking.

The aeroad has a completely proprietary headset-stem-steerer interface. Only the original bars fit it.

if you are considering to use alu stem, do look at controltech Falcon mini stem-mount ver(not the sciroco).
The mini comes with itu U-horseshoe short bar, but the clamp accepts 22.2 generic bars. i use it on my TCR with alu J-extension. if you can find the controltech riser kit, even better

I just started using them a couple of weeks ago and am pretty happy with them. The problem is that BXT didn't design them for internal wiring. It's like they threw in some random holes without thinking about utility and design. You'll have to overlook the zip-ties in the pictures; I'm still ironing out some cockpit issues (headset and stem length) and am not ready to commit to bar tape. And forgive the ugly hotel carpet. Oh, and the wind really whistles through those holes. If I'm not using the aerobars, I wrap them with electrical tape as a quick fix, but I've been thinking about using Di2 hole plugs, though that might not look so pretty. I'll figure that out when I wrap the bars.
