2024 Tan Tan TT-X39 - A Rim Brake SL7 with 32mm Tire Clearance!?

I was searching for a traditional compact handlebar for a practically new 2012 Tarmac SL3 I recently purchased and was browsing the tan tan site and came across this.

For reference I have owned a FM066 through tan tan, it was a good bike, probably most ridden Chinese open mould ever, but the BSA BB shell delaminated from the frame after around 40,000km, not sure if it was issue with bike or salt getting in the frame from riding in Ontario Canada but that bike owned me nothing considering it was $500 and rode way better than my Scott foil previously

I then bought a LTK118 that has been a great race bike, although it rides twitchy and seems a little sketchy on the downhills

So here we have the Tan Tan TT-X39. Is this the bike everyone has been asking for? Rim Brake with huge tire clearance?

It looks identical to the SL7, and I have heard of a rim brake SL7 being produced via a Chinese website but google translate only works so well, so this might actually be the mould.

The most incredible part of this frame is the stated 32mm tire clearance. I am not sure if that is even possible without direct mount rim brakes

Is it more like a sl6 than sl7?

I think 32mm measured width is definitely doable with direct mount brakes. My VB-R218 easily clears 30mm. The limiting factor is actually more the chainstays rather than the brakes. With single bolt mounted brakes it depends on the caliper and the height of the caliper placement l, I imagine. The latest gen calipers from Campag and Shimano have A LOT of tire clearance. I had a modern rim brake steel frame with a Columbus carbon fork with single bolt Campag calipers. That one would definitely have cleared 32s. I rode it with 28s, though. But there was a lot of space left. But you will run out of clearance directly under the caliper at some point. Add grit and grime to that and the tire will leave ugly marks on the caliper.

This will be perfect for my next build! Prefer rim brakes, and the tyre clearance seems just what I want.

Searched for places to buy it, but can't find any yet; on Tan Tan's site it's not buyable. Anyone got a place where the frameset is sold?

this is far from an sl7, if anything it's heavily sl6 inspired, looks like same mold as trifox x16 which has been around for many years

The sl7 is far more aero and shaped looking than this thing. Even the sl6 doesn't look like that frame. Starting with the rear wheel cutout, absent on this one.
It does look like an open mould frame very much in the spirit of "all bikes look the same now", and does indeed look like a trifox. If you want something light, that's not really aero, not really stiff, but will likely be quite compliant and pleasant to ride, and assuming you're light enough, then you'll probably be happy with it?

i emailed about this one, curious of the response... would love to see some measured 32mm tires in it, got burned by that claim in the past!
