New High Pivot Full Suspension Carbon Frame!!!
« on: May 21, 2024, 02:31:15 AM »
Hi Guys,
Anybody here are interested in high pivot full suspension frame?
Yes or no

What is your preference on travel option F/R?
My personal preference is 150F/140R

High Single Pivot or 4 bars Horst link suspension?
I think 4 bar Horst link is more straight forward

Let's put our opinions here, so manufacturers know what specification they should design for high pivot frame in near future.

UDH compaible
No inside storage
No headset cable routing

Carbonda FM1001 (run a 52.5 shock if 135 is too much)

My dream DIY enduro build:
- 170mm travel (or more)
- High pivot (narrow-wide cogs, standard bearing size)
- Non-trunnion shock mount, preferably 230mm eye to eye (with leverage curve suitable for coil)
- Modular geometry, which means:
    - Adjustable chainstay length
    - Flip chip
    - Adjustable shock mount
    - Adjustable headset cups (both for reach adjust and stack height)
- Compatible with DH forks

As the high pivot is gaining the popularity, most bike brand is adopting high pivot even in trail category like the Norco Optic and Sight model. Hopefully with all your input, these information will help to provide manufacturers with the right direction on designing a carbon high pivot frame.
The four-bar Horst link is the most common design in brands like Devinci Spartan, Norco Range and GT Force, offering more flexibility and options.

I'd be skeptical of the kinematics of a Chinese designed high pivot given that Chinese engineers still seem to struggle to design good kinematics into more traditional designs like horst link. It seems to me that open mold manufacturers are catching up to modern geometry as evolution slows at the cutting edge, but suspension kinematics still often misses the mark on trail and enduro full suspension bikes.

Don't expect the Chinese engineers to come out any new innovative suspension kinematics at this moment, they are still remain as factories manufacturing for those big brands. We have seen many Road bike brands in China is already emerging out with very competitive price. Slowly, not just an OEM brand but they will definitely come out their MTB brand in near future.
