Not sure if this has already been posted here, but wanted to bump this in case others have not found this yet.

http://dreds.jeckyll.net/ lets you adjust your group set without the app, which is nice if you don't want to setup an account. You do need a web bluetooth enabled browser, so on IOS you need to use the BLELink browser. for android chrome should be fine.

Does anyone know the differences between the alloy and carbon versions of the shifter blades? Appart from the obvious different material, is the weight the same?

I can't find any info regarding this on the manufacturer website, they specify a weight (L: 238.4g, R: 240.5g), but they don't state for which version...

I suppose the carbon version shoud be a bit lighter but not as sturdy as the alloy version in case of a crash, right?

Also, is the blade profile/shape and functionality the same (reach, etc)?

Jumped on this offer as well, codes and Klarna payment got it down to 340€ and there should be 70€ cashback coming as well, so hopefully it'll turn out to be quite the bargain

Arrived just now, will hopefully get around to installing it (and a few other parts) until the weekend at the latest.

Quick notes on the listing itself, YMMV:
- the listing was stuck on "label created" for almost a week, then went from "we got it" to delivered within 24h
- shipped from France instead Poland
- I ordered the 7000 brakes, got the 7800 🤷

I recently purchased the alloy GeX groupset minus the calipers (I have a a few set of hydraulic calipers). I also purchased a spare GeX battery as a backup. On my other bikes I use alloy ER9 and (I believe carbon) Ultegra shifters. Honestly I can't really tell the difference in actual use. Plus this groupset is going on one of my gravel bikes, so a few grams difference won't make a difference on the trails.

Not sure. I'm sure shape will be the same. Plus the main complaint I've heard about Wheeltop shifters is the long brake pull. I think that issue is with both shifter materials.

Was there any noticible improvement in the app since the new release end of July 31? (iOS 1.1.8, Android 1.9.41)

Also I saw this review, while covering quite a bit of stuff, it seems this tour was a realistic and quite hard test for the groupset:


I really considered the groupset, but after this video, i now have some doubts.
Especially not being able to adjust the groupset without an internet connections, seems quite concering especially in the Gravel use case.


But it seems that rotor will be launching something at Sea Otter europe (Sept 19.)

I think his first mistake was riding an electronic groupset on an off-road touring bike. I would most definitely go with a mechanical setup and perhaps even cable disc brakes to minimize any issues. Plus he was still able to adjust the gears with the app directly. The LTwoo app is the same way. No need to have an internet connection. I seriously doubt if Shimano GRX Di2 or SRAM XPLR would fare as well. Also it seems many of his issues stem from not properly checking his hardware prior to the trip. I always check jockey wheel cage screws regardless of brand.

Regarding the video.  I've suffered similar problems over the past 40+ years of riding due to falls/crashes, parts falling apart.  Riding in long distance events in pouring rain, where the shift cable gets frozen, and grit off the road locks up the derailleur.   It's all part of life on a bicycle.

After my learning curve regarding Wheeltop products, and getting them properly set-up, as well as learning what I have to keep an eye on, service-wise, in challenging situations, + the App improvements, I have come to like Wheeltop as good as any other brand of analog systems I have ever used.

If anyone interested in spare batteries for their Wheeltop groupsets, I ordered from this seller on AliEx. Price seems reasonable and I'd rather have peace of mind knowing I have a replacement ready-to-go if my battery ever goes out.

I have been using my Wheeltop GeX for nearly 2 months and 600 miles. So far the battery is still at 35%. So it looks like I only have to charge the thing 3 or 4 times a year.
