(LOL!) First frost!  In my neck of the woods, we've already had several snow days, and frost, most mornings, since before Halloween.   
Regarding the crappy very low quality CR2023 batteries that come with Wheeltop products, Their OEM batteries last at best 2 to 3 months.  Their crappy button batteries have been discussed a couple times on the EDS OX and TX threads.  (I feel for you because this exact same thing happened to me.)

It takes time to develop the preventive habits to keep from having dead or discharged batteries.  One has to open the app each and every time before you want to ride the bike for anything important, and check the battery levels for the derailleur/s and shifters.  I have 4 Wheeltop systems in use.   I always carry at least one CR2032 battery with me, (along with a quarter to open the cover)

I purchase the 12-pack of of Duracell CR2032s from Costco when they have them on sale.   Even the Duracell batteries only seem to last, at best, 6 months if you ride and shift a lot.   

Regarding CR2032 batteries"  New voltage is 3.3 to 3.2 Volt,   On our shifters, it appears that the batteries are good down to 3.0 volts, then I swap it out.
At 2.9 volts, the battery is considered weak, at 2.7V they are considered dead.

To accurately check the level of the CR2032 batteries, the app is necessary. However, for a quick glance, the lever’s LED indicates the battery status: green means it’s fine, orange/yellow indicates low battery and it’s recommended to replace it, and red means it’s almost depleted (I’ve had it show red and it still worked; the app showed 2.8 V).

I recommend replacing the battery when the LED turns orange/yellow if you don’t want to run into issues. I personally always carry two spare CR2032 batteries in my bag in case anything comes up.

I have two Wheeltop wireless shifting systems, one is OX 2.0 on my gravel bike and the other is the GeX on my Road bike. I have put about a bit over 1000 miles on each bike in the past year.
Recently I just found that I can change their shifting mode from Standard to "Race" and the shifting speed is extremely fast and I like it.  Question: does anybody know how long will the derailleur last when set to race mode?

IIRC, race mode just keeps the RD from going to sleep between shifts so there is less delay on shift requests. It won’t have much affect on the RD itself, but will use the battery charge faster. If you use it, switch it back to standard mode after your ride.

Thank you very much for the timely advice!!  I just went to check the RD battery and found it only have 20% left. It was fully charged a week ago and it's been only two rides (~100 miles).   Previously when it was at standard mode, I was able to get 500+ miles of riding before needing to charge. This "race mode" really burns the battery fast.

For the past two rides, my GeX RD seemingly failed to go into standby after the rides, completely draining the battery whilst standing still. At single-digit Celsius temps, it hasn't been particularly cold so I'd rule that out as a cause, as well as the mode as it's always been set to Casual Mode.
Has anyone experienced something similar? FW versions show as 2.67 / 6.2 (ANT+) for the RD with no option to update, are those the most recent ones?

Funnily enough, I charged mine before a (2 hour) gravel race 2 weeks ago, and didn't use it until Saturday - it was completely drained. It's in non-race mode and is stored vertically.

Has anyone had any issues with the connection between derailleur and shifters dropping out? On 2 occasions now my shifters have stopped working mid ride for about a minute. Each time I’ve thought the derailleur battery must have died but it starts working again and battery has been almost full both times.

I’ll try changing the shifter batteries see if that helps.

My girlfriend’s bike does exactly what you’re describing. It happens randomly, and most rides are fine.

Never had that issue on my bike.

Very annoying! I've took it off the bike now with Force XPLR taking its place. will save it for a future project I'm sure. XPLR is just a breeze to set up in comparison.

I keep dropping in on this thread to see how it is stacking up. Still issues with its' reliability by thr looks. Not prepared to buy it whilst frustrating issues like those described on here persist.

I have been using the Wheeltop GeX groupset for one year (~ 1800 miles) and I found it probably more reliable than the Shimano/SRAM combo.  The most important difference is that the Wheeltop does not have a crash protection mode. When the bike is dropped or derailleur is hit, wheeltop does not trigger any sort of protection mode.  If it damages the motor gears so be it. and even a partly damaged motor gears is better than a motor not working at all.   but Shimano/SRAM will trigger protection mode.  I ride with several groups almost every weekend and I am seeing peoples Shimano/SRAM getting into protection mode almost on a monthly basis. And most of the time, nobody knows how to recover it on the spot so it ends their rides.

Between L-Twoo eGR being cheaper and Shimano 105 + Deore Di2 being only slightly more expensive, there's really no reason to buy GeX at the moment until either prices come down or quality improves.

L-Twoo and Shimano are not truely wireless and you need to put the battery in the seat tube. Doesn't work if you want to put a dropper post. Also, the extra wiring is just messy.

Both L-Twoo eGR and Shimano 1x12 are fully wireless.
