To have the race mode on the wheeltop derailleurs and the standby you must activate the race mode via this site which makes the link with the derailleur

Does anyone know if the derailleur cage from the MTB OX/OX2.0 is compatible with the GeX derailleur too? Looking at pictures it seems so, but maybe someone around here knows the answer...  8)

Just installed GEX on my new Waltly titanium minivelo. Using a 13 speed 11-45 cassette from Sunshine. Setup was relatively painless, and shifting is good so far. Hope it continues this way.

Use *any* chain compatible with your cassette and chainring.

I bought my Wheeltop EDS GeX Gravel 1x12 in July 2025 via AliExpress. Until the failure, I was actually quite happy with the groupset.

At the beginning of August 2026, the right shifter failed. The two buttons are no longer recognized separately. No matter how I assign them in the app, both buttons always perform the same function. The shifter is still detected correctly, the batteries are new, the firmware is up to date, I re-paired everything, performed a reset. The problem remains fully reproducible. I also sent Wheeltop videos showing the problem.

I contacted Wheeltop but the response was simply: warranty expired. Yes, but by like 5 days. No exceptions, no goodwill gestures, they still didn't even attempt to analyze the technical problem.

No proper troubleshooting, no further assistance, no offer of a replacement shifter. Basically: buy a new groupset.

I actually liked the groupset itself. But what's the point of an affordable electronic groupset if a single shifter fails after just over a year and the manufacturer shows no interest in helping to resolve the problem?

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend buying a Wheeltop groupset. I would rather spend more on Shimano or SRAM and have proper spare parts availability and customer support.

It's a shame, because I actually found the product concept very interesting.

Hi everyone!

I’m having an issue with my Wheeltop EDS GeX Gravel 1x12 and wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar or knows of a possible solution.

Unfortunately, Wheeltop hasn’t been very helpful so far. I reported the problem with videos and a detailed description, but apart from telling me that the one-year warranty had expired, there was no technical analysis, troubleshooting, or offer of a replacement shifter. In the end, I was basically told to buy a new groupset.

The problem is with the right shifter:

Both buttons are no longer detected separately.
I can change the button assignment in the app, but both buttons always perform the function assigned to the small button.
Example: large = “+”, small = “−” → both shift “+”.
If I swap the assignment: large = “−”, small = “+” → both shift “−”.
The shifter itself is detected normally in the app.
The current gear position is also displayed correctly.
Shifting via the app works normally in both directions.

I have already tried:

Replacing both shifter batteries (3.3 V)
Updating the firmware
Re-pairing the shifters
Resetting the system
Resetting and testing the button assignments several times

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Maybe someone has experienced a similar problem or knows whether the shifter can be reset/relearned separately, or whether this sounds more like a hardware failure?

Thanks!

not sure, I had a similar issue with the "normal" EDS-shifter on the right side.
cannot remember if it was exactly the same but try this:

try cleaning the gap between the two paddles.
take a small tissue and clean in between...I had some small debris there and after removing it, everything was well again.

hope that's helping!

Just come across a problem with my lever.
Brakes had gone very soft and went to do a bleed and fresh fluid.
Kept getting loads of air coming through at the brake rotor end. Then I noticed dripping from below the lever. Up on the plug was dry but underneath the lever was dripping fluid. Possibly a seal gone? Fixable or just order new shifters?
Thanks

Hi everyone,

A few days ago, I updated the firmware of my Wheeltop GeX right shifter to version 4.33, and since then I’ve had an issue with it.

Once it goes into sleep mode, it doesn’t wake up normally. The only solution I’ve found so far is to pair it again by inserting the battery while holding the button, as in the initial pairing procedure.

I’ve contacted Wheeltop through the app and by email, but I haven’t received any response yet.

Has anyone else experienced this after the 4.33 update? Any ideas on how to fix it without having to pair the shifter again every time?

Thanks!
