Based on my own experience:
I used 4-5NM for the stem crews (clamping the handlebar), 4-5NM for the spacer towers, extension to baseplate just untill fixed (probaly also around 4NM but don't know for sure).
The clamping of the massive alloy stem onto the steerer tube needed around 8NM of torque to grip the steerer enough. I am thinking you need the high force to bent the clamping of a solid alloy stem (because the stem still slips onto the steerer otherwise).
I would advise increasing the torque with increments of 1NM just until the bars don't spin anymore :)

I agree with the previous post. 5-6nm in general it´s enough with carbon asembly paste. But for the aluminium stem I used 10nm because the steerer tube kept slipping.
Good luck!

A quick update with some info.
I’ve been riding the TT bike for a while, but after about 10 rides—or 1,000 km—my stem started making a really loud creaking noise.
It had been properly installed with carbon paste and tightened to the specified 8 Nm / 10 Nm.
After I sent Chris an email, a new stem was sent out immediately, and he confirmed that they had made the fit for the fork steerer tighter.
Upon measuring the old and new stems, I found a difference of 0.7 mm, Problem Solved 👌🏻 So, once again, excellent service from Velobuild and Chris.

Hi everyone,

I’ve just ordered the frame in size L; can a 58-tooth chainring be installed?
I want to run a 10-30 or 10-33 cassette and a 58T chainring—SRAM Rival AXS 1x. :)

I'm 190cm and mostly torso so please update the thread with your experience!

My frame is being shipped, but meanwhile I have a question. did the stem/fork came with an expander ? if not did you have a reference ?

Hi everyone, today I’m taking the TT bike out for its first ride. The build went completely smoothly. The extensions on the base bar seem a bit long to me; I’m curious to see how the bike handles. I’m still waiting on my disc wheel, so I’ve got my training wheels on for now. The cockpit felt a bit flexy during the initial roll-out—what do you guys think of the bike? :)

Great build! Congratulations!!
I cut the extensions to fit my trp brakes. You can cut them with a saw, just make sure you hace enough spaces to fit your brakes.
Are you using the carbon or aluminium stem?

Looks great! I really need to get me one of these. What's your height, inseam and bike size? A few pages back I created a spreadsheet to track size info that people could reference.

Are you US based? If so, how were tariffs?

Once thing that has always bothered me is the length of the basebar reach. Not only does the grip area look very long, but the bar also looks like it curves forward. I've always wanted to get the Winow basebar that looks shorter and can have a positive rise for a slightly more relaxed fit, but they don't sell it separately.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the feedback. I have the aluminum stem. I took it for its first ride yesterday, and it’s really good. I also already own the Velobuild Aerotrace 368 and am very happy with the bikes. The extensions are a bit wide; I’d probably swap them for narrower ones. But for the price, it’s all solid and straightforward. I’m from Germany, and the frame cost me around 1,000 euros. :D

I am 194 cm tall and have an inseam of 93 cm. It fits very well

How did you get so many spacers? Did you ask for more when ordering?

Well, it seems it's raw carbon week around here, so here's mine  8)

Gotta say, the matte finish goes way better with UD raw carbon compared to the glossy finish I originally ordered...

Only one problem so far:

The basebar rotated down at the stem clamp — dangerously so, while riding. I disassembled everything, cleaned it, and mounted it again with plenty of carbon paste and 6 Nm of torque. It's holding up so far, but the fear never really goes away  :'(

I think I might have had the extensions too far out, creating more leverage and possibly causing the problem. I moved the armrests a little further back for a safer position.

I'm 1.82 m tall, and the frame is a Large. The fit is OK, but I'd rather have more room to extend my arms. I feel like I'm right at the limit with this frame...

I switched the armrests because the original ones were too small for my liking. I'm not a fan of the traditional hand grips with the Blip adapter on top.

I ordered these Balugoe ones from AliExpress. The general size is better, hand grips are better too, but I'm still not happy with them. I'll probably have to design custom ones that actually fit my hands (these are very small). Having the 3-bolt interface for the hand grips does make everything easier, though.

The frame box is my custom design. The other box available for this frame won't fit these types of aero bottles. There's also a custom 3D-printed part at the transition between the brakes and the basebar, smoothing out the height difference between the hydraulic brake caliper and the basebar, so you can get a better grip in that area.

Happy with the build. It weighs 9.9 kg as pictured.

Do you think that this would also fit for normal round bottles? the previous design posted here was specifically for the aero-bottles..
This one seems to also fit normal bottles.

And by the way.. I can confirm the bar slipping fear will never go away... I have now more than 3500km on the bike but it never happened again ;) (the new alloy stem is definely better btw)
