Not Rival, it's Apex, because I exclusively do flat TTs, so weight was not a factor for me.

Correct: 46t max, which wasn't nearly enough for me for a TT bike. I installed these instead:

Warning: it took some fiddling to attach it to my frame. I had to cut and trim it with a box cutting knife to make it fit the shape of the VeloBuild's down tube.

UPDATE (a few minutes after my original reply): Looking at the photos again, I do realize that they still show the Rival crankset, so you made the right observation. That Rival crankset has since been moved to my aero bike (which I use for climbing as well) and the TT bike got the heaver (but much cheaper) Apex crankset with powermeter instead.

Hello guys, first time posting. I've been inspired by your builds and I'm thinking about ordering the frame and components. I have thought of the following build, please tell me what you think or ir there are better alternatives.

Frame: Velobuild TT-023 size S (169 cm tall, 75cm inseam)
Groupset: LTWOO ER9 TT (would be cheaper ~720 USD than buying SRAM RD, Bleeps, and braking system)
Wheels: 65mm wheels from Velobuild (looking for better options but within a reasonable budget i.e. less than 800 USD)

Had my bike fit yesterday and now close to pulling the trigger on one of these!
I'm cretainly a L size frame because of my long legs, though I have a rather short torso in comparison. I was fitted against an Argon E117 frame, which has slightly shorter reach and higher stack.

I've reviewed some of the images of the builds on this thread and noticed quite a few of you have made adjustments to the base plate where the arm rests are mounted. I assume you're using something like the FastTT extender plates, or an AliEx equivalent. Would someone mind confirming if my assumption is correct?

well, i would rethink to install the ltwoo tt system..if you can live with a fail during a race, go for it..if you want reliable components and easy and fast swappable parts available around, i would go for sram or shimano....there is nothing more frustrating, than being somewhere on the world racing and missing it because a part breaks and cannot be swapped...
We have sold ltwoo for quite a while, and not even one setup is still on a bike...customer service does not exist for dealers and only available via aliexpress....
being involved in 70.3 races myself and putting loads of energy and time in these projects and do not risk a dnf because of the gear.

Just my thoughts...

where did you get 720 USD for er9tt? The few aliexp stores i've seen it on had it listed for over 1k. Also i really wish they would make this in an XL :/

I had been reaading that the newer versions of the ltwoo groupsets (v3) were more relaible and less prone to having the RD stop working. However, thinking about the racing scenario, maybe dropping some extra cash to get a SRAM RD and a pair of blips on the TT extensions is the best option.
I would just need to check compatibility between SRAM RD and other components like the chainring.

Thanks to your advice, I ordered and started assembling my VB-TT-023. However, I just ran into an issue while tightening the 4 bolts on the stem (the ones holding the handlebar). Chris had advised me to torque them to 5 Nm, but as a precaution I started gradually at 3 Nm and then 4 Nm, when I suddenly heard a sharp cracking sound. The lower part of the stem cracked at that point (see attached photo).
Has this already happened to anyone here?
Even when I first received the stem, I already found that the finishing quality wasn’t great…

Unfortuneatly yes.. the top half of the stem cracked twice for me (they had already send a replacement but that cracked as well.)

Now they shipped a whole new stem (top and bottom). I replaced it this week and now it seems to be fine. It is supposed to be an improved design (although i can tell them apart).
I am very scared to tighten them. I only went to 3.6NM but that seems to do the job. No crack this time.

Edit: I have to say.. they responded very friendly to all my (irritated  ) messages. They kept replying to find solutions to the problem and kept shipping them out to me for free. So overall for the service a big thumbs up!

I've asked chris by email for additional spacers and they sold me 50mm extra and even included the screws.

I am thinking about buying the VB-TT-023 frame, but I want to know how far the seatpost can be extended?
The description on their Homepage say, 400mm length. But is it the whole length of the seatpost or is it the length which I can extend?
