I actually noticed this the other day and was confused for a second until i checked the trueness of the wheel at the rim edge and found it to be good. I believe it’s normal

I'm trying to determine if this will rip apart in the long run.  How long have you had your wheels?

I got them in September of last year. I have a set of the ultra light rims with 16 and 18 carbon spokes. I’ve ridden them on rough trails, bombed then down mountains, and packed them tight in bike boxes to fly. No issues. Still true. The layup is thin. You can squish it on the sides with your hand. However, in the vertical plane, they are incredibly stiff and sturdy. The tension on the spokes is very tight, and pulling the layup at an angle. I’m not surprised it deforms the inside of the rim a bit. I’m not very concerned about anything catastrophic, and I’d guess Peter would take care of me if I had a problem due to an engineering or manufacturing issue

Does someone have a spoke tension chart for the wheels?
Yesterday i caught a stick with my front wheel, snapped a spoke and now its a bit defomred with an 8. LBS would like to know the tension charts before he tries to fix them. And its a bit urgent since i need them for Saturday

what is the general feedback on R280 hubs from XMCS ? I am especially interested in reliability and durability. Are they in the same category as HWorks SR261 for instance ?

I did purchase and receive few weeks ago some 50 deep with 26IW with CX ray spokes with R248 hub in UD paintless.
They weight 1250g and feel very light on the bike.
Unfortunately, since I mounted this new wheels I'm experiencing a problem with my front brake (Ultegra 8170Di2 on a Lightcarbon LCR018 frame).
My front brake is sometime making a loud metallic noise while braking (not necessary on strong braking). This never happen before mounting these new wheels.
What is also strange is that it's sporadic : on some ride, I don't have noise for 2 first hours and then it start.
I did few trials to identify the origine of this noise and it seems to be related with the front wheel.
When I put back my old wheel (reinstalling the same disk) I have no problem.
I did try to install a new disk and new pads without solving the issue.
I did also try to use new resin pad (instead of metallic pad) + other disc without resolving the issue.
The disk is tightened with a torquewrench at the right torque (40Nm).
Do any of you experience this issue ?
I don’t really understand what could cause this : do you have an idea ?
I will also continue to try making other test (maybe test them on my other bike).
I'm not feeling vibration while I'm braking but the noise is realy not nice and I'm not confident going downhill with this phenomenon.

I had the same but on farsports wheels. The noise is getting worse the more kms you ride.
Together with my LBS we identified the wheel caps and hubs slightly out of spec causing this. Farsports replaced the wheel caps and it solved the matter.

Thanks to your advice, I did check a bit more the clearance between the thrue axle and the end cap.
I took the same thrue axle to compare the clearance between : the XMCS front wheel, the XMCS rear wheel & a winspace front wheel.
There is definitly much more clearance in the XMCS front wheel than on the XMCS rear wheel orwinspace front wheel.
I will contact Peter and I'll let you know how

I took the same thrue axle to compare the clearance between : the XMCS front wheel, the XMCS rear wheel & a winspace front wheel.

I did check the wheel cap inner diameter and it seems similar to the rear wheel.
The additionnal clearance is due to the front wheel "tube" being oversized vs the rear wheel one (see pictures).

Good morning. I removed the freehub body from my Carbon Speed ​​wheels to apply some fresh grease, and I noticed that—after 800 km—the 54-tooth ratchets are starting to show signs of wear (nothing too serious, though). I wanted to ask if these ratchets are standard DT Swiss compatible and if I can buy the ZTTO brand ones on AliExpress. Is it better to go with steel or titanium? Thanks.

they're std Dtswiss but new model with inner groove and not the old model without.
I swap 3 different ratchet from different wheelset/source without any problem.

The spring are not all equal, some springs are not compatible with grooved spacer (it's a matter f 0,1mmm)
There are 4 different set of springs:
conical springs (old model)
cilindrical springs (with round wire)
cilindrical springs (with flat wire)
cilindrical springs (with flat wire "double loop")
+additional trick: spring on one side, teflon ring on the other one

Is the difference from 54 to 60 noticeable? Yes.

The crisper the sound (in garage) the higher the headace in long alpine descent...

if you match correctly you can manage the balance between drag/sound...

Sign of wear after 800km seems really really early it should be basically new ?

Btw the 54t original from xmcs was too loud for my liking. I cleaned it and used Dumonde freehub x grease and I’d say it’s better. Definitely not silent but not annoying anymore, perfect !

Anyone else running the 26int/33ext rims with 30mm Pirelli P Zero SL-R TLRs seeing sidewall wear when cornering hard?

It looks like the tread just isn’t quite wide enough for this rim/tire combo. I also saw on Bicycle Rolling Resistance that they measured the 28mm version as actually having a wider tread than the 30mm, which seems a bit odd and makes me wonder if that’s part of what’s going on here.

I’ve attached a few photos of my tires. I’ve only done two crits on them, both with mostly left-hand corners, and you can already see pretty clear wear extending down the left side. I’m curious whether this is something Pirelli has seen before and whether they’re likely to address it.

Bit of a shame, because apart from that they’ve been great — fastest tires I’ve used, and no punctures so far after 1,600 km.

Yes, me and my sidewalls are totally fine (but my cornering is surely not as hard as your). The SL-R are not made to last very long so I assume after 2.000 km they will be dead.
