Xiamen Carbon Speed rims/wheels

I just received a pair of 28mm carbon wheels from Carbon Speed last week. I have just finished installing the tire and rotors on. Overall I am quite happy with the purchase. 

1. lead time: from the time I placed the order to the wheelset arrived at my doorstep took 12 days. I live in California, US. This is super fast considering it took them more than a week to custom build the wheels.  I ordered by contacting Peter Xu through WhatsApp. He was very prompt and accommodating.
2. package: the wheels are well packed. no complaints.
2. Weight: the claimed weight was 1330g and the actual measured weight was 1268g --- 62 gram lighter than claimed!
3. The quality: the wheels seem to be well made. their inhouse hub sounds great. Actually I think it sounds louder and better than the DT350 hub.

- Pillar wing 20 spokes
- Pillar aluminum nipples

You would think this would happen more frequently with all the wheelsets I've reviewed over the years. But this is actually the very first time I received a super damaged packaged like this. Thankfully no damages or scuffs to the actual wheels themselves

my 50mm T1000 wheels just arrived. Super pleased - communication was great, and they arrived within a couple weeks.
haven't put many miles on yet - winter keeps blowing in, but QC looks good so far.

First road race of the year. The 100km course has a few (wet & gnarly) gravel sectors, so I went with 32c GP5000 STR which stretches to 34mm at the rim. Carbon spokes is manageable on gravel but not ideal. Even with cushy tires.

Currently at my best fitness ever. NP 235w which is 3.2wkg for 3 hours and 15 minutes. Doesn't really matter though because my both bike handling and tactics are awful. Out of place early, and got dropped by the much stronger Cat 1/2 dudes about 45 minutes into the race. Ah well on to the next one...

Are you sure it's the carbon spokes, not the wide inner width that makes the tire walls straighter?

The cockpit is the Tavelo AROW. 140mm stem and 36cm width. I've used most of the usual suspects when it comes to one-piece handlebars. The Tavelo AROW is my fav in terms of having a good balance of price, weight, stiffness, and ergonomics. EXS is way overpriced.

 Two different thoughts bruh. It's the rim width making tires wider - and carbon spokes harsh on gravel even with 'cushy' tires. Peace out

OK. I thought the straighter sidewalls made the ride harsher, even if the tire got wider. Less lightbulb-effect.

So I got a quote for 65 mm T800 wheels with steel spokes and a 54T ratchet, priced at $754 shipped to the EU. The estimated weight is around 1550 g.

That felt a bit heavy to me, since my current 65 mm wheelset with steel spokes weighs about 1430 g — although it’s only 28 mm wide externally.

I then asked for the same specs but with carbon spokes. The weight would drop to 1400 g, but the price goes up to $945 shipped.

It’s a bit more expensive than I expected, so I’m still debating which option to go with.
