Damn it, I’m 180cm and went with a 54cm but a 90mm stem.. might be too cramped huh? I bet I can still message them or should I just push the saddle further back and be fine.

ordered a 54cm Tarmac SL8 with a 90mm stem at 180cm tall — that’s quite a small frame and a pretty short stem for your height. For reference, I’m 178cm and ride a 54cm frame with a 110mm stem, and even that feels on the snug side.

Honestly, you’d probably be better off with a 56cm frame for a more comfortable fit and room to breathe. Also, since you’re ordering from TanTan and not your local bike shop, swapping sizes or making adjustments might not be straightforward, so definitely think about the bike size you normally ride and what feels good for you.

If you prefer a smaller frame for a more aggressive position, that’s cool, but just be aware that a 90mm stem plus a 54cm frame might leave you cramped. I’m actually planning to get a 120mm stem for my 54cm soon because it suits me better.

Just something to consider before it’s too late!

One of the nice things about buying replicas is that you can swap the bars without the $600 cost of an actual Rapide cockpit. You still have to deal with the hydraulics.
I'd agree that the 90 is going to be short.
If you buy the longer bars, at least you'll have enough hose to go shorter if needed, if you go longer later you're replumbing the bike.

Thanks. It was really easy, silcone mold for the existing cap, a couple plys of carbon and pressed them with the oem topcap and a c clamp. Just finished another that is 3g now and nicely finished, but I wouldn't preload with it, I'd use the stock cap for that then replace.

100% this. currently building up an X68 in 56cm for my kid. he is 183cm and we will be using a 400/110 cockpit for him.

a 110 works for my old bones on my 54 but i originally wanted a 380/115 but that was on never ending backorder so settled on the 110.

what color did you end up with? we originally ordered the pearlescent white for the kid but ended up with a metallic red being shipped due to availability. i think he will prefer the red in the long run.

Be careful when buying, I ordered a 56 measuring 178cm and the only solution I could find is to buy another new frame. now I have 54 and 100mm of STEM and I'm very comfortable.

what color did you end up with? we originally ordered the pearlescent white for the kid but ended up with a metallic red being shipped due to availability. i think he will prefer the red in the long run.

I originally was going to go with raw but they mentioned they have matte black ready to go so I opted for the matte. I ended up sticking with 54cm since I’m closer to 179cm and my inseam is 81.3cm. Hoping this fits well 😬

I do the same when preloading use round metal cap then tighten stem then swap cap.
Same with SL8 the carbon tops cap from HOPP is only 2nm so delicate!

Status update:

Finally got my frames, 56 in petrol/gold and 52 in black.

I'm a bit short on time and a few spares/tools are still missing, but here are some infos:

56 came in at 890g, not really light but ok, 52 not checked yet.

Forks seem to be from different production facilities:

petrol green is appr. 60g lighter than the black one and has different inserts, steering tube, QR code sticker, etc
