Do you guys have any idea how to get the heavier fork from the start?
Jessi tells me that they sell the frame with whichever fork they have in inventory, so there is no way to tell which one you are getting…
Which I find a little bewildering - I should know what am buying, no?

Vivian has responded to someone I know who’s buying a frame today. I had mentioned the fork issue to him, and he sent me a screenshot of her reply, which simply said:
“Our fork is an enhanced version. Thank you.”

I would push for more clarity. You could say that you're active on Chinertown—one of the largest cycling forums—and that there have been reported failures and other issues with forks purchased from TanTan, particularly the lighter models. You’re aware that an enhanced version is now being sold, so it’s important to confirm that this is the version being supplied, and ideally get that confirmation in writing.

I feel stupid for asking but is this a single bearing or the upper and bottom both? Went through the page with translator and came out none the wiser.

Tantan doesn't make the frame, it's a money grab. they lean on their name recognition to sell someone else's work. They sell so many frames that it seems evident they give 0 F about selling garbage / the occasional piece of garbage.

So it's not so much that you should know what you're buying, it's that they dont care to know what they're selling.

The real question being: should you buy from them in the 1st place?

I agree but there’s enough information in this 102-page thread for people to make their own decisions—everyone’s risk perception is different. For me, this frame has definitely been a punt, but so far it’s been fine. Only time will tell!

the bars provided are actually the one thing that, in the case of my kid's bike at least, had a couple of slight differences from the actual Rapide cockpit. the first and obvious difference being the lack of dimples on the bar top but the more noticeable difference (to me) was the drops of the bars have a slightly altered bend.

there's a slight gradual slope to the end caps on the Tan Tan bar vs what feels to be a more flat section on the Rapide. visually it's very minimal from a distance and you can only really notice it when the bikes are side by side, or in my case, muscle memory from chewing the stem on the real thing.

p.s. i had no problem with the transition cap rubbing on my kid's frame. it definitely a snug fit between the back of it and the top of the top tube but had no rub. not sure if we got lucky of if they had made some manufacturing adjustments? it's an easy fix regardless.

I had the issue with the back of the spacers to had to get some 320grit and sand them down. However now I have changed the bars I now have the issue on the front so some more sanding again

My frame was shipped today. I ask again to confirm for the "new & heavier" fork, which was confirmed.

I had the issue with the back of the spacers to had to get some 320grit and sand them down. However now I have changed the bars I now have the issue on the front so some more sanding again

Thanks the THMs are a great set of bars light and stiff.
Sold the Rapides and have fitted a pair of ahem 😂 Darimos 😉.
Gone  back to 120mm stem these are 380mm

Kidding aside, I hope they work out for you. I suspect they've sorted their issues, sort of like tantan and the forks...

received the message that frames are painted but they are missing 1 bar, so I have to wait the next batch to get it.

are you certain it's coming from the BB? sometimes creaking sounds under load can actually be occurring at the saddle clamp and/or seat post clamp. what brand BB are you using - it's unusual for a decent BSA BB to be creaking.

Found the problem : small play in the left arm of the crankset
Had to torque the 2 bolts and this is way better
