That’s 40g heavier than the real thing so not silly buy any means.

that's about the weight my kid's fork was. i forgot to weigh it uncut but final weight was 382g cut for a size 56 frame with 20mm spacers.

Strange turn of events for myself...

TanTan contacted me last night about working together to do another frame review after the success of the GR201. For a multitude of reasons TanTan and I decided to go with the X70 over the X68.

It's basically the same frame as the X68/SL8. Except no butt sniffer, different (hopefully heavier) fork, and UDH. Same seatpost, BSA BB, overall design and geometry. To me this makes A LOT more sense to promote without the inherent stigma. I actually sold my Tarmac SL8 frameset last week so I literally can just use the same components.

Maybe they’re looking to strengthen their brand image and promote it more positively, which wouldn’t be a bad move considering the mixed reviews TanTan tends to get here.

Personally, my experience so far has been positive.
I’ve been told the fork issue has now been resolved, with the new fork structure having been optimized.

My bike is mostly built and ready to hit the road. Probably will try a short ride this week.

I believe I'm one of the few with a 58 frame and also a heavier rider 90-100kg (depending if im in/off season). Roads here are also shit for a G7 country.

Frame/fork will be tested... will report back...

So I'm about 200 miles in. Mostly flats with the occasional 7-10% climbs/descents. Frame appears to be holding well. Quite nimble and responsive. Bike gets shaky on descents around 50km/h (31mi/h) - Could also be due to the fact that I dont have much experience at that speed. The bottle cages that came with the bike are quite flimsy and I have to screw them again every 2 rides or so. It appears the vibration during rides are unscrewing them.

As a weekend warrior, I have yet to be passed by other solo riders... take that as you want regarding the frame or the rider...

A bike getting shaky at 50kmh is a major red flag.
Are your wheels balanced, are you tyres mounted on properly?
If it's not that, but because of the frame, then I'd be crying.
For screws that loosen like bottle cage ones, use loctite. Loctite goes there, as well as on chaining bolts, and depending on your crankset, on crank arm bolts. And on derailleur bolts. And on garmin mount bolts.

Without belittling the boy, the problem must be that he gets nervous at high speed. I have made descents to 80km/h and only once he trembled, in a high-speed stretch covered by a rock wall, on that descent the wall disappeared and a cannon was formed, with lateral air.

By the way, I don't know if it has happened to more people, but it is the fastest bike I have ever used, I have managed to overcome my friend for the first time on descents, he weighs 20kg more than me

Size 58 matte black weights: frame 869g with hanger and front derailleur plate, fork 392g has no QR stickers or stickers of any kind, 110/380 cockpit 338g, seatpost with mounting hardware 186g.

Looks and feels fine apart from rear brake mounts that do not appear to be faced at all and BB threads that look rather rough but to finger feel ok. Computer mount is outright ugly.

Going to take a while until I get all the parts for the build.
Planning on running 32mm S TR on 26i rims, anyone tried 32mm? Most posts I have read have been with 30mm.

waiting for my frame as well, planing on using the gp5000 s tr in 32, on the spe website it is written that you can fit up to 32c so should be ok

A fair number of folks have commented on other forums that actual sl8's are prone to high speed instability descending. Others say its very stable. My x68 has been rock solid 60kph. Suspect that the instability is due to either the factors you mention or something to do with fit and weight distribution being too rearward. Some folks running stems too short to compensate for the low stack.

I've been waiting for my frame for 6 weeks now, and it hasn't even shipped yet.
I'm not sure if the delay is due to the custom paint job (it's the transparent red one).
Has anyone else experienced such a long wait?

I changed for the genuine ones for aesthetic and fitment with the bars nothing more as I though they would work better as there was a gap compared to my genuine bars.
Hopefully fitting  a new set of bars to the X68 this week

Are the original spacers "closed" or can they be "opened"?

Yeah, I was almost 90 days earlier in the year with pretty normal paint. They can get pretty behind depending on volume, and paint seems to be the bottleneck.
