Velobuild Carbon Bottle Cages

Fellow cyclists,

I recently acquired this Velobuild https://www.velobuild.com/products/br-009-carbon-fiber-water-bottle-cages-sold-in-pairs-51 carbon fiber bottle cages weighing just 20 grams each, making them among the lightest available. The matte finish is flawless, free from any aesthetic defects, and adds a sleek touch to my bike.

What's truly remarkable is the price: these bottle cages cost less than €20, offering exceptional value for their quality. In comparison, many models on the market with similar weights easily exceed €20 without necessarily offering superior quality.

Communication with Chris was excellent, and the shipping was swift: ordered on October 25th and arrived by November 14th. I did incur a €2 customs fee, but this was due to the Italian postal service and not the seller's fault.

For those of us who are meticulous about every gram on our bikes. I can't wait to test them on my rides and share further impressions.

Here are some other ultra-light carbon bottle cages to consider:
  • Lightweight EDELHELFER: Weighs about 18 grams; pricing details are available on their website.
    LIGHTWEIGHT
  • Elite Leggero Carbon Bottle Cage: Weighs around 15 grams; pricing details can be found on their website.
    BIKE COMPONENTS

I thought I'd share this review here in case it might be of interest to someone.

Happy riding!

Though I do not doubt that you are happy with your purchase and those bottle cages are actually good, I neither find the price nor the weight anything remarkable. There are several options on AliExpress with similar specs, some even at half price (even before any additional sale/discount codes applied).

The only thing I find remarkable about your post, is how much this reads as a paid promotion. But maybe that's just me ???

No no it's not a paid promotion, i've paid them with my own money, no coupon whatsoever.

I'm not good in english so chatgpt helped me write this topic, that's why seems a bit promotional. It's just for share my experience in buy from Velobuild.

What about aliexpress, can u share some link? so i check them out?

Thanks

Haha, yeah that explains it. My first thought was: this sounds like AI  ;D

Like I said, there's several.

KOCEVLO seems popular; lots of sellers, lots of reviews: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005042815195.html

One that keeps popping up in my "3 choice picks"; 16 ± 2g ~10€: https://www.aliexpress.com/gcp/300000512/nnpage2024?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.3.2e57SJVaSJVaba&productIds=1005006562212152 (hope this link works ...)

I went with this one though; bit more expensive but I wanted a side-load option. I think I paid ~20€/pair a few months ago. Still working fine for me after about 2k with them: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005704801105.html

Oh nice, I'm adding those to my list. Last time I searched, I couldn't find any that were matching those stats. But looking at the history of them, they sure should have been up there back then as well. Sometimes Ali search is kinda weird, I guess ...

I've only had one brand of bottle cages ever that both dropped bottles and eventually cracked. And it was VeloBuild.

From that point onward I use Tacx Ciro bottle cages exclusively.

The various unbranded Arundel Mandible copies on Aliexpress for about $20 a pair are the problem solved, problem staying solved answer.

Hi, beware of the Velobuild bottle cages, I bought a couple with the frame, since they were cheap.
I was happy with them until I hit a pothole and they broke under the weight of the bottle.
But that's okay, it's part of the game!

I found other carbon ones on aliexpress that seem to be much better made for the same resonable cost, time will tell if they actually are.

What is incredible about aliexpress is the variability of the quality of the products that you can't verify until you receive them.

The general idea that I have formed over the years is not to buy critical components on AliExpress, apart from frames and cockpits which branded have unreasonable costs.

+1 here
the original ones from my 168 broke within the first season on the bottom side. Probably from sticking the bottles.
