Hi y'all.
I received my seraph TT-X42 mid October and have been using it as my fast commuter in rainy, cold fall/winter weather (~ -8 - 10°C) . So far I made about 500km.
After 250Km I did a ultrasonic deep clean and relube on the chain and checked for chain wear, it was comfortabely below 0.5%.
Yesterday I wanted to upgrade to a KMC X12 EPT chain, Hot-waxed with super secret. (I believe this one should give me better performance & durability in wet and cold weather than a lubed chain, EPT coating against rust) I cleaned my chainrings and put on the freshly waxed chain and did a test ride.
Low and behold. The stock chain is far above 1% stretch and 4-6th gears are
completely worn. The new chain skips immediately. I had to revert back to the old chain, at least that one still works with the worn chainrings.
TLDR: Do not use the stock chain from the TT-X42. It's garbage and will eat your chainrings,
fast.
BTW, for tires I am using the Pirelli Cinturato Velo TLR Refl V2 28mm. Those are tanks. A bit heavy, but comparably, still quiet fast. Very difficult to mount though. The stock ones gave me a flat after less than 250km
