Question: Is the front derailleur fixing bolt generally included with the frame or with the groupset?
I don't think I saw it with the frame, and since I bought a used groupset, the fixing bolt wasn't included (whoever sold me the groupset told me the bolt wasn't included with the new groupset he purchased, so he used the one that he already had).

It's only supplied with the 2 screws for the FD (I highly recommend using loctite). The fixing bolt should be supplied with the FD groupset, not the frame.

I've been following the discussion from the first pages...it seems to me that the problem with the front derailleur hanger is "recent."
Is it possible that the problem only affects the "updated" frames and not the previous ones?
I don't think anyone who bought the first version of the R088 has reported any problems with the front derailleur hanger.
Am I right?

I'd buy one again based on price, features and performance. I don't see what would be different with newer R088 frames unless QC has gone down the toilet.

They seem different to me. Perhaps one it is black paint and the other is raw carbon with glossy coat, is that it? If so, how do you order the frame with the second finish (raw carbon with glossy coat).

I think the first one is black paint with gloss clearcoat, the second one is just gloss clearcoat (or maybe a fade to black on the bottom). If you send them examples theyll probably be able to match them

First one is black paint with glossy clear coat. The second one (my frame) is raw with UD glossy clear coat. You have to specifically ask for the second one. You can also get black matte or raw UD matte. Raw UD matte would also be the lightest weight you could potentially achieve.

What finish from raw ud matte and glossy clear coat would leave a more raw ("unpainted") looking?

I also guess with a raw ud matter, it could be a big tricky to touch-pain scratches, chips, etc, right?

I think with raw ud matte, the underlying carbon texture will have some sections that look flat black and other sections with fiber mesh. Raw ud glossy looks more like marble with varying fiber textures under a glossy clear coat.

I typically use clear nail polish with the glossy clear coat. It tends to hide blemishes quite well. Though I use this clear protection decal film on my frame. It blends well with the glossy clear coat and isn't noticeable whatsoever. Best to lightly apply it with a blow dryer or heat gun and it doesn't leave any adhesive residue when removing. I've tried the helicopter clear tape and I think that stuff sucks. It looks ugly and leaves residue when you remove it.

My frame was sub 800g, I think it was around 780-790g, I can't remember. Also I forgot the weight of the fork, but it was about average compared to most road forks.

You might want to look into the Specialized Alpinist replacement kit....if it fits the SL8, it should fit the R088 seatpost as well.
