Best carbon disc wheelset for around $500?
« on: January 16, 2025, 01:28:06 PM »
Looking at getting some new wheels for my bike.

I'm wondering what the best is for around the $500 price range.

So far, I'm looking at the Elite Wheels ENT 2.0's for around $380 on aliexpress which come in a basic pawl hub, or a star-ratchet style hub for $100 more.

I'm open to any and all suggestions, but $600 is my max i'm willing to spend, more comfortable around the $500 range.

Needs
- XDR freehub
- thru-axle
- Disc Brakes ( preferably centerlock )
- I'm using them with 32mm GP5000's, so ideally something a bit wide that will match.
- 40-50mm rim depth
- Ideally, matte carbon, with little to no logos or branding.

Easedon Wheels:

I ordered my climbing wheels (1100g) from them and they're quite good for the price. Customer service is extremely responsive and you can customize your wheels to your liking. They run store discount coupons that you can stack with AliEx sale coupons. You can probably get 40-50mm depth, sub 1300g wheels for under $500 USD. They took about a month for production and shipping, but once shipped they arrived quickly. I think you can get them expedited for $10 USD extra.

I have wheels from Peter on the forum (xmcarbonspeed), with 50mm deep and 33mm wide (that is actually 34 at widest part.
With my gp 5000 s 30mm, they come at around 33mm.
Base price of the wheels was around 450$, with ratchet hub, 1420 spokes and my custom logo. Peter was really helpful. Production and Delivery took about a month
They feel really nice to ride with, and so far got 0 problems.
One note is that freehub is loud, but a bit of grease reduce it to a pleasant level. I can send pics if you need

I suggest serenadenikes.net as well.
I got a set of 55deep/31wide wheels. Inner width 25mm. Good hubs. Pillar 1420 aero steel spokes. Weight is 1450g because the hubs are not superlight. They’re DT Swiss ratchet Style Hubs like everyone seems to use these days. 6000km and no problems. Just below 550EUR including shipping. They come in all kinds of depths and configurations. Different spokes. Hookless or not. Whatever you want. See here: https://serenadebikes.net/1320gr-40mm-carbon-gravel-bike-wheelset-hookless-paintless-rims-disc-brake-ratchet-wheels-p4485391.html

They also have a wavy wheelset modelled after the Princeton 4550s. Roughly 30mm external and 22internal. Steel aero spokes, superlight hubs at just over 1200g. Price is about the same. I have ordered a set of those and I’ll post a review here. https://serenadebikes.net/50mm-Wave-Whape-Carbon-Racing-Bike-Wheelset-Ratchet-hub-1200g-p6220620.html
