There's a new rim coming up with 25 internal and same 34 external as the current 23/34, right? No "snakeskin" or wavy rims. I've seen the rim profile in the China bikes Facebook group in a comment but I can't find it anymore. When will this be available and in which depths?
Kinda want to try something deeper than my current 50mm Farsports/Wheelsfar Hyper in 24/31, looking into Reserve 57/64 and China alternatives.

So you mean an update from 23 to 25mm of those rims, right?

Exactly, saw it in the Facebook group but can't for the life of me find it again. What I don't like too much about the current 23/34 is that they are pretty shallow on the top of the rim, I think more like 31 instead of the 34 on the widest bit.

The rims above are wider than 31mm I believe but I will check when I get a set.
The attached rim you mean is only 50mm
Attached is there rim catalogue

Thanks, Stephen!
Would be nice if this would also be available in 60 and 65mm.

Ive ordered a set of wheels with these spokes. Steel spokes, brass nipples and the SR042 hub. Wanted something for year long use. Quoted as being 1375g in total.

Hello all,

For my new road bike project (I'm going with the Lightcarbon LC018 frame) I will be using 30 to 32 mm wide tires.
I am torn apart between two wheelset (both profile are compatible with the tires I want to run) and wanted some insights :

1st option : LightCarbon C53DB 23 mm internal 32 mm external
Pro :
- 600 USD with shipping
- comes with ceramic bearings + 54T ratchet
- Sapim CX-Ray spokes

Cons :
- Heavier at around 1370 gr

2nd option : Serenade 23mm mm High Performance Aero Bike Wheels 23 mm internal 34 mm external

Pro :
- lighter at around 1250 gr
- carbon spokes that looks gorgeous

Cons :
- A bit more expensive especially if I take the ceramic bearings.

For context I ride in France and in winter there is lots of rain and the road are sometimes rough (potholes) greasy and grimy.

My questions are :
1) Which hubs between the 2 wheelset do you think will be the more resistant, easiest to maintain and eventually replace ?
2) Are carbon spokes more or les durable than the Sapim and is it easy to replace a carbon spoke ? (I know how to do it with a steel one but never had carbon spokes wheels)
3) are ceramics bearings worth it  ?
4) Given my context which wheelset would you choose ?

Thanks !

Don't go ceramic bearing unless it is Ceramicspeed.

For 30/32 mm tires choose something with 25 mm internal width.

ceramic bearings make no sense. Don't buy them. Even a ceramic bearing can rust, since the bearing shells are made of steel. Steel bearing is also fine. As long as you use enough greace, everything is perfect also with steel bearings. Most of the wheelssets have nearly no greace. Therefore directly after you receive them, apply more greace under the end caps. Then you will have less problems in winter time.

For 30/32mm tires I would also prefer 24/25 inner wide.  ;D

There are some rims from Serenade with 24mm, see picture. Than you need light hubs like SR268 and the CX-Ray. The external rotating mass must be as small as possible. So the rim is most important. Followed by the Spokes. Of course a carbon spoke is light, but it is hard to replace them. The CX Ray is a reliable and high-quality spoke.

Somebody enlighten me on rims like these. It has a very wide internal width, but with the 31mm external width at the rim, you are basically forced to run a 28mm tire, as a 30mm tire at that width would measure over 31mm for sure. It seems like the internal width is very nice, but too wide for the outer width.

What kind of tires to people run on rims like these, and what kind of rims are good for 30-32mm tires so that it would still follow the rule of 105?

The brand ENVE actually states this: avoid using ceramic bearings, as steel bearings offer better stability.

As for internal widths of 24mm and 25mm, they are indeed designed for 30mm tires. A 24mm internal width is highly compatible with 28mm tires, whereas for a 25mm internal width (32mm outer) , a 30mm tire might be the absolute minimum requirement.

Around 10-15 days, We will have a lot of 25mm inner 50mm depth in stock 20/24H

There are 5 set 20H 25mm inner for carbon spokes, with a better price. Weight of the rim 420g.

Some models are already available.

25mm inner.

It's not the lightest, but it's definitely stable.

Ordered the 60mm X-weave ones. 21mm internal, so stone-age according to some, but they look stunning to me.

539 eur with shipping and taxes included to Europe. Ordered today (15.06), was in contact with Wendy, who said turnaround would be around 15 days with another 2 weeks for shipping. I asked for pictures before shipping, so let's see if they're able to facilitate that. Will post opinion and review once received  :)
