Author Topic: Ltwoo R9 aluminium version - Is it supposed to work like this?  (Read 348 times)

Hi, first post, but definitely not new to sourcing my own bike parts from Ali and China in general.

I'm a bit confused about these shifters which I just installed hoping someone can share some insight -

1) I'm under the impression that one stroke of the lever/button for the rear supposedly can go down 4 gears / up 3, but my set only does 3 down 1 up. I'm pretty sure it's set up correctly because the shifting is beautiful - perhaps there are multiple hardware versions out there and I got an older set? I bought mine mid-Nov 2024 on Ali and only got around to installing them now.

2) My set up is a bit unconventional I know, but I paired the R9 shifter with a Shimano R7000 FD. My query #2 is, I can access the trim position only on the small ring. On the big ring 75% of the time if I try pressing the thumb button very gently it'd just jump down to the small ring but I think I hear two clicks in rapid succession; the other 25% of the time there is one click but no FD movement. Is there supposed to be a trim position on the big ring?

Look at the thread of the on the latest refresh of the mechanical ltwoo groups

Yes, it is the same shape/design, but operation is a bit different between mechanical and hydraulic brake versions.

In the hydraulic version you can shift multiple gears in one push in both directions.
But the mechanical brake version is different, the thumb lever only shifts one cog at the time.

I received R9 mechanical a few weeks ago, haven't mounted them on the bike yet...

don't know about the ins and outs of FD trimming
