I shoud have mentioned this: I did - extensively.

For exapmple my current bike:

Can/should I trust this agreement 100%? I am simply scared of the "194 - 199cm" LC assigns to their 58er frame  :-\

Can't help because my frame hasn't arrived yet, but i got the same "problem".
Body height 186/187cm -> based on that LC recommended a 56cm frame, but:
inseam length 88cm -> the measurement "exceeds their everage calculation range for this size".

Went with the 58cm, because my old gravel bike was even bigger:
https://www.bike-stats.de/geometrie_vergleich?Bike1=CUBE_Nuroad%20Race%20FE_2025_L&Bike2=Lightcarbon_LCR018D_2026_58

edit: not bigger, the wheelbase is longer. All in all they are pretty much the same size.

I’m not sure why you have the impression people are sizing up a frame size or two.
However, I’ve said this 20 times on this thread, using height and inside leg measurements to buy frames is absolutely ridiculous, but people keep posting these two measurements thinking it will ensure a good fit.

There is no guarantee your current bike is the correct fit, but if it is, then the 58 is a very close comparison -
However you don’t mention if you have any spacers, stem length, bar reach etc. all play a part in fit.

If you have a turbo trainer, do a free MYvelofit and see what it says about your current position.

I went through most entries of this thread that contain a discussion about the frame size and I had the impression that more ppl sized up, rather than down, with a good potion going for the suggested size. But I didnt do a statistical analysis (yet).

Since testing the frame in real life is no option for me (I live in Europe) the only things I can use to estimate the optimal frame size are indeed my dimensions and comparisons to what I know works.
Statistically on average, the rider's height is a good indication of what frame size one needs. It's just a gaussian distribution, some ppl forget sometimes.

I got the current fit from a professional bike fit and feel good with it. I use 2cm of spacers and a 110mm stem. Both details that I would be able to fine tune when starting form a similar geometry on the new bike.
For the final reach, for example, I am planning to calculate what stem length I need, considering the current setup and both handlebar dimensions.

My hesitation comes from the fact that the gravel bike size recommendation from LC was on point, while this one's seems to be way off to me. And I am wondering if I am missing something.

If you’ve already had a professional bike fit, use those details to choose the correct size frame.

Keep in the mind the Lightcarbon handlebars have 8mm of rise. So same spacers/front stem, the lightcarbon actually has a higher handlebar contact point that is not reflected in the frame stack.

The 8mm difference in reach can be accounted for with a shorter front stem on the lightcarbon as well.

The bars have 8mm of stack and the bearing cap has 10mm, so that makes the reach of both frame within 1 or 2mm of each other. (Can’t be bothered to do the actual calculation)
If he keeps 20mm of additional spacers, the stem should remain 110mm

Evening all,

Small but mighty update to the LCR018-D today.
Just received by beta Seattail, mini mudguard which will hopefully keep my jackets from getting destroyed with muck!

https://tt-works.myshopify.com/products/seattail-beta-edition-first-50-units?variant=53166786281810

Just fitted and it seems great, so looking forward to giving it a good test over the next few days.

Only problem is it took away my nice saddle mounted Garmin Varia mount, so downloaded and had a model printed from Cults 3D.

https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/lightcarbon-lcr018-d-garmin-style-light-radar-mount?fbclid=IwdGRjcARjIeNleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEeyL_GKmsfjDM9n6b3euTXR2l9qumYYVozPf5AigkJJ64dvN7rBSLSh0qui-8_aem_IrBaZetgQiM2ncGn-xgkRg

Works fine, but I hate seatpost mounts in general so considering getting a simple GoPro mount and chemically bonding it to the seatpost for a much more integrated look.
(Does anyone know if it’s safe to use chemical metal on carbon fibre, or can anyone em recommend what the best and strongest adhesive would be?!).

Not everybody has access to a bike fit, and even if: three bike fitter will tell you three different measurements. Probably even wildely apart from each other. One has to start somewhere to gather experience.

based on his post, i have to assume his current setup has -7 handlebars like LC since he didnt specify. otherwise the comparison is different. 100mm front stem would be closer to account for the reach difference in the bike geo (8mm longer reach on the LC)

Add 18mm to the stack of the 18d for the bars and mandatory spacer - then add 20mm of stack for the spacers. With a head angle of 72.5 it brings the bars towards the rider.

Funny that, the previous bike fits I’ve had over 30 years all pretty much agree within a mm or so.
They were carried out I’m multiple countries, using multiple systems.

That’s why I usually suggest a free MYvelofit assessment on a turbo trainer. As not everyone can see a fitter in person.

Or do nothing and post your height and inside leg measurement and hope for the best.

Wow, what a detailed comparison! Where can I find this tool?

Has anyone found a portable inflator that fits inside the storage compartment?

Think this should work https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005006842456107.html
