That should work out fine. You'll receive a PDF with your design for approval before they start. And when they sent you photos afterwards, and something is done differently, just let them know. They forgot one decal on my front fork, and there was an area painted in another way. They repainted/ solved that.

A Question: I just put the parts together as a dry fit and tightened the seat post just so that it doesn't slide down. there is play between the frame and post, front to back and side to side. It is very noticeable. Has anyone else experienced this, and will it disappear when the seatpost bolt is tightened to specification? Of course, after adding some carbon paste between post and frame

Is there any reason you can't torque to spec and see for yourself?

Following up on this, LightCarbon is refusing to take responsibility saying I needed to request QC photos prior to shipment. I would like to take a poll for those who have had their frames shipped to understand if this was truly my mistake or Wendy's.

If your frame has been shipped, could you take a moment to fill out this quick survey? https://forms.gle/Ks7sdXNwURkiijsT8

Thank you! :)

Please let us know the results, once you get enough responses. I am curious.

No there is not. I could do that, but I'm still waiting for the rest of my parts and just want to torque the seat post to my position once I have finished my build and am ready to test it. I don't want to torque it now, loosen it later, and torque it again to spec. Since this is my first bike with a D shape post, I thought I would just ask. A round post has no or almost no play.

Why are you reluctant to torque it to spec now? There's no reason not to. I'd apply carbon assembly past and torque if I had this concern. There's no harm to torquing it unlimited times.

I know, I was just wondering if anyone else experienced the same thing. But apparently, asking it is not appreciated. I'm not asking for someone to torque it to spec it and find out at this very moment... just a general question. well forget about it.

It's not that it isn't appreciated, but this is now it sounds.

I got some new running shoes today. I put my foot in one, but it was loose.
I didn't tie the laces,  so does anyone know if they're the right size for me?

Torque it and if it moves there is a problem. If it doesn't, there isn't.

I just noticed a flaw in my frame while trying to replace the hanger LC provided with a direct mount hanger. When torqued down I could still easily move it as the "sleeve" was sticking out a little bit from the frame dropout. I checked the dropout thickness and it was 12.0mm while the UDH spec says 12.5mm + or - 0.2mm. I didn't have a problem with the Light Carbon hanger as the part that goes in the frame is 0.3mm shorter than on the new one. I contacted LC and ordered a 20x28x0.5mm washer. Has anyone else had a problem with this? I will get back to you once I receive a response and sort this out.

As mentioned, I will be sure to update on my damage issue. I will keep everyone posted!

Current update as I still work with Chloe. There may have been some misunderstanding. I still have the frame and it has not been sent back yet. I will attribute some of the misunderstanding to language differences. I received emails stating the following.

  • It looks as if the carbon fibers have been damaged and protruded.
  • Everything else seems fine—it's mainly this spot [the chip] that's problematic, as it appears to have been bumped or knocked.
Carbon fiber repair technology is quite sophisticated, and it may not be fixable locally."
  • The issue this time is only paint damage and exposed carbon fiber surface caused by impacts during transportation, not structural damage.
The reason we didn't recommend having it repaired locally is that carbon fiber repair processes have strict requirements for technology and materials, and ordinary repair shops can hardly meet the standard workmanship.

Reading this, to me it sounded like the frame had paint and carbon damage. Talking about carbon damage and complicated carbon repair. Chloe clarified after.

  • The issue with your frame is only paint damage that has caused the carbon fiber to be exposed—the structural integrity and quality of the frame itself remain completely unaffected.
The reason we recommend sending the frame back for repairs is that the painting process for carbon fiber frames has strict technical requirements. Without professional operation by experienced technicians, the frame's structural strength could easily be compromised during the paint sanding process. Color mismatches may also occur with touch-ups.

To me, it sounds like they are going to sand the frame down and repaint. Requiring professional services to carefully sand down, not damage the carbon and repaint. LC (or the shipping company) paying for shipping back to them and then back to me once repaired. No out-of-pocket expense for me. I have proposed partial refund and touching up the paint myself (with no affect to my warranty) or sending it back for LC to repair, I am letting LC decide.

The process has been a little slow, partly to the time zone difference, but Chloe has remained in communication the whole time. With it being winter, I am in no rush. I would likely be more upset had the weather been nice and I could be riding the frame. I will update once a final resolution is confirmed. As my situation is a little different from the fork but very interesting to see the difference in how it is being handled. As of now, I still have no issues recommending or suggesting LC. They have maintained in communication and working towards a solution.

Update - LC has decided to have me ship the frame back. I will be packing it up and sending it to them.

If you don't need the frame built for a few months, it's sounds like the best option to be 100% sure.
It looks like a paint chip, but if it's being posted at their expense ( both ways ) I don't think that can be faulted.

As a suggestion. If you need any additional parts, you can now buy those and have them shipped for free 😀

Are they covering the cost of your return shipping?

In the email Chloe states, Could you please help us pack the bike frame securely and send it back to us? Please make sure to use EMS as the shipping carrier. We'll cover all the shipping fees and taxes. So I would take that as they are covering the cost both ways. I have sent a follow up confirming how that will work. I assume I pay the shipping and they will then send me money to cover the cost.

Do have a problem fitting my Shimano GRX 812 Derailleur to the UDH hanger... it obviously doesn't fit... can somebody shed some light which hanger would fit to get it working?
