Could the difference be how deeply the top bearing seats? Not all bearings of the same ID and OD have the same depth (or bevel angle).

If it doesn’t have the same angle as the seat, it’s not the correct bearing for the frame.
Some 45-45 bearings are 6.5mm and some are 7.0mm, but I don’t think that accounts for the difference as the enduro bearing is the same thickness as the included LC bearings.

I’m not aware of anyone fitting a different brand, but happy to be corrected on that.

Jim sent me a reply, and he clarified that he expects painting to be completed mid-March which is a little bit better. He offered an extra free hanger as compensation, not really sure that's needed considering I already ordered some extra hangers but oh well. Would have rather had an upgrade to like ceramic bearings.

When did you paid invoice mate?

If I were to order other bearings, I'd match the spec for the headset. I have done that when fitting Hambini bearings into an FSA headset.

Also update from my side:

I paid the invoice in beginning of January and the timeline was 4-6 weeks production. Now it is till the end of march, so about 12 weeks/double the estimated timeframe.

I communicated this, and will get bottle holders as a "present" for the delay.

You cannot do much at the moment, it is what it is.

Size 58/glossy carbon

I'm in the same boat (same size, finish and time of order).
This is the reply I got from Jim:
Quote
The completion time for the painting is currently uncertain. According to the schedule, it should be finished by mid-March, but every year during the Chinese New Year holiday, some workers experience delays in returning to work.

How many months did most of the people here to wait upon invoice payment to receive images from LC on their frames prior to shipping? Thanks

Make sure you actually request QC images, for the record.

I was able to get an upgrade to the ceramic BB as I was already ordering extra hangers and a free hanger doesn't really do anything for me. I'm content with this solution especially since it's still winter in March for me anyways.

kjerts: Nice one, love to see some 3d printing :). How does that computer holder fits, everything good?

Yes, very nice. The original has wider groves around the screw holes for the computer insert, but there is no movement when mounted. I made a new print with ironing activated and the finish got much nicer. Could actually gone even shorter for my Bolt, but it looks good

i thought it was a bit rediculous despite talking about aero testing a lot on previous shows when they dont like results (the seka spear being top 5) then they dont matter and "vibes" are what counts.

if what joe from china cycling told them is true and most of LC's business is direct to consumer they should really improve the ordering process and handling status updates,  the process of discussing your order via email must put people off.

the talking point about not wanting to ride a bike branded lightcarbon showed a lack of knowledge that you can have it painted however you like and just general snobbery that plagues the cycling community

I think Chinese branding is generally pretty horrible when companies try to leverage English in any way shape or form. There's a general lack of appreciation that you can't just string some positive-sounding adjectives and nouns together and create an appealing brand identity. LightCarbon, Quickpro, Winspace...all pretty cringe. Tavelo, only slightly better. Seka, is fine. I'd ride any of those brands but would have to talk myself into ignoring the branding on some of them. When custom paint is an option, no way am I going to have a huge LightCarbon graphic on the downtube. Yet, I'd put a small one somewhere on the bike. I'm not ashamed of the pedigree of my bikes, but the naming practices tend to be extremely tone-deaf.

As for the aero stuff, they put their hands up and recognized their own hypocrisy. They're absolutely right that moving forward the wind tunnel is really only meaningful if tests are done in ways that reflect the conditions where aerodynamics are most meaningful and where error-introducing factors are reduced. 55kph with mannequins would be a good start.

I thought their appreciation for the LC tour and interview was great to see.

Aero test at 55kph? Who rides up there? Given the population size that is able to maintain that for a meaningful amount of time (aero becomes irrelevant in a bunch draft), what is the relevance of that test?

Anyone else experiencing sideways play in the seat tube? Tighten to 6nm.. I have no used paste.. would that tighten the fit?

I ordered my LCR018-D size 54 today. Naked carbon with gloss finish, no decals.  Shipping to the US with quite a few extra parts.  Got one each of their saddles, some bottle holders, extra fork for when I get really old (hopeful I keep this bike a long time) a 15mm setback seatpost, a 27.2 15 mm setback seatpost for my Stigmata, plus some other bits like an extra computer mount and derailleur hanger.
I'm 178 cm and was able to use my Santa Cruz Stigmata 4 size M as a great geometry reference.  Similar angles, bb drop, and stack with a 22mm longer reach.  I spent some time optimizing the Stigmata reach and arrived at a 100 mm stem (it shipped with an 80) with the saddle being set back about 15mm on a zero-setback seat post. The LC bars are 5mm longer reach, so I ordered the LCHBR17 120mmx380cm bar. Total reach is only 3 mm longer reach than my reference Stigmata.  Never went this narrow on a bar before, but my shoulders measure 39 cm, so evidently that is my modern - aero fit.   Still waiting for the estimated schedule since Gavin has been avoiding committing to one so far.

I'll be building a SRAM 2x with my existing Reserve 42/47 wheels wearing Goodyear Pro5 35mm tires set up tubeless, measuring 37mm mounted. I really love the Goodyears, but if I do a big multi-pass ride, I might try my neglected Pirelli PZero Race30's with TPU tubes for lighter weight. The SRAM build is mostly Force with Red Cranks and Rival FD, SRAM std BB. Force threaded 2-sided Power Meter, and threaded chainrings. Super hilly here in UT, so I chose 10-36 cassette, and 48-35 gearing.
I appreciate this posts on this forum for giving me so many insights into this bike and confidence about how to order it!
Fingers crossed on the order, then I'll need to study up how to get some new Enduro headset SS bearings (thanks for this suggestion) and build a bike!
