It depends on your personal clearance tolerance , but I think those 40s is a bit much.
For what I was able to measure thanks to frame drawings that was posted a few pages back. I measured frame width 46mm so with 38mm tyre there should be clearance of 4mm, you can calculate what that clearance would be with 40s+ tyres.
There is a loot more clearance in forks so maybe go for wider tyres and rims for front and a bit narrower in back.

Disclaimer I can not guarantee my measurements are absolutely correct, but if that drawing is right I have good experiences with this kind of measurements.

I did exactly the same as you. The front is ok but the rear might be tight.
Your guestimations are pretty much the same as mine. Yours are probably a touch more accurate.

I like to experiment and try new things. If this frame doesn’t suit, I’ll probably buy a new Aspero-5 frame instead.

I would like to ride the Hutchinson Caracal Race, but I have also found a very interesting 38er from Vredestein https://www.bike24.de/p1837167.html and if necessary there is also the Pathfinder, which is said to be narrower.

Nope, already have a Gravel and wanted something comfy but with 2x drivetrain and fast tyres:D

Right now I'm riding my 34mm tyres and wheelset with my Gravel and wait for the frame.

I want a fast, comfortable aero bike.
Like an Aeroad with a bigger head tube!
This is the best option I could find other than the carbonspeed GT, but it was too expensive for me.

Iam building my race bike on this frame. I have ordered CarbonSpeed wheels on CS-D50CU-36 rim (36.6 external width) and Iam planing to put Michelin PRO5 (35mm back and 32mm front). I think that will be pretty good match and when there will be GP6000 in 35 then it will be perfect .

They’re brilliant tyres, that should be a killer combination.

Idk about sidewall cuts, i do care about tyres unseating, ETRTO states (2024 standard) a 31-35mm interwidth is recommended with a 47-83mm tyre. A 35mm tyre is compatible with 16-27mm inner width

Full hooks, they will never unseat. It’s a challenge to unmount them even when you want to.
There are quite a few riding the Josh Portner favourite of a 32mm GP5000 on a 29mm hooked internal - he knows quite a bit about the topic.

After riding tubeless for over 20 years, I’ve never had a tyre unseat. Never

I'm my case I'll use it as a fast aero allroad/light gravel bike. I already have a 2026 Orbea Terra with 2.2" tires for regular gravel and exploring duties...

Yes, the Caracal Race would also be my favorite, but I'm afraid that doesn't fit 🙄
