Velobuild AERO GRAV Frame

Finally on what will be the long term build, minues getting some other rims to run some smaller tires:

Frame: Size Medium glossy
Drive train: LTWOO ER7 group; 52-36 & 11 spd 11-34; dura-ace chain
Wheelset: ICAN Aero 50 (the narrow IW helps squeeze the rubber inside the chain-stays'
Tires: front - Vittoria Barzo 2.25; rear - Vittoria Mezcal 2.1
Saddle: Bontrager Aeolus comp 143mm
Pedals: 105

Weight without lights and comp, but with top tube bag is 21 lbs. Little heavier than I expected but that's okay, it keeps speed well and is still more comfortable than my alloy CAADX I came from. I also have spaced the FD out with some washers and longer bolts from Lowes. Will be swapping to ETX when it finally releases. The new hood shape of the LTWOO is amazing, way more comfortable that the prior ones.

Decently supple, vs my racekings and schwalbe's (racing ralph and ray) i'd put them about in the middle. They endure the roads out her well and absorb a good bit of the ruts and glass on the road.

It’s good to know these tires fit. I received my frame yesterday can’t wait to build it up! Still waiting on a few parts, the integrated stem I ordered didn’t fit so I had to order another one. Will take a few days to be delivered from ali.

I would also be interested in what kind of handlebar it is. If it‘s the stock one, it has really a lot of reach! Looks like it would add 1-2 cm of stem length 😮

Those look like the stock HB-011 handlebars to me. These are the ones that came with my AeroGrav (same but flared).

Fair warning that they are blowing up about 3mm smaller than the stated and I trimmed down the side knobs on the mezcal in the rear, it was rubbing a bit since the wheel isnt the stiffest and Im a hefty boy.

correcto, but honestly I like the look of your flared way more. Do you have more photos and thats the difference top vs drops?

Handlebar is the velobuild HB-011 (got mine before they offered the flared version) that they put on the 268, aerograv and the new 368 option. I don't love the way it flares to the reach and how chunky they feel but they are stiff and routing was incredibly easy, by far easiest of any integrated bars/internal routing. Stem is 90mm.

I'm finally almost done with my build, but of course after connecting and bleeding the brakes, I'm realizing there's a decent bit of play with the headset. This isn't my first rodeo - mechanic of several years - but I just can't seem to track down the issue. I'm using the integrated bar and stem, the headset that came with, etc. It's a small bit and mostly lateral. Anyone had any issues with this and/or been able to resolve?

I have play in the headset that keeps coming back. I think it might be due to thick aluminum compression being too stiff and it requires a lot of force to preload

Getting some creaking from mine, its overall compressed but I can feel it moving ever so slightly when I really torque it. No solution as of yet.

I'm really enjoying the Rocket Rons, they're a little noisier and slower.. but great traction and confidence on loose terrain.

I had same issue. I think issue is that the expander plug slips and lifts when torquing the top cap. I grease the bolt of the expander and torqued and made sure the expander didnt create a gap with the top of steerer and it seems to help. I also tryed a 0.25 mm shim which seems to help also but kept displacing.

Almost finished with my build, just need to bleed the brakes and put on some bartape. I have ordered the Elitewheels Aero+ Gravel so I hope they arrive soon they are supposed to be lighter than the SLR gravel I have on now.
