Velobuild AERO GRAV Frame

I've never really been a fan of electronic gears, but trying to fit cables through the integreret handelbars makes me want to switch over!

One side is smooth and fine. The other side seems really rough and impossible to fit trough..

Please tell me I'm not the only one..

I built mine using an older Ultegra 1x11 mechanical shifting setup. The only issue I encountered was with the front derailleur cable. I had to file down the frame slightly for a better fit. The rest of the cabling went flawlessly. The handlebar was a bit fiddly, but with the help of a special routing tool, it was manageable. Shifting performance is quite good, and I didn’t notice any difference compared to non-integrated cable routing.

I got these ones in black (10 mm). They seem to be decent quality and holding up fine so far. I think I need 3-4 more to replace all the bolts on the frame, so I kept the original ones to secure the bottle cages.

I bought some plain black flat headed M5x12 that I somehow thought would be nylon ... but turned out to be stainless steel. Not very light, but being black and low profile made them blend in very nicely to the frame. Not even sure if I will bother to try to source nylon bolts again.

Waynifa bolts are also a solid choice, but a bit overkill just for blinding off unused screw holes IMHO.

Is this the velobuild cockpit? On mine spacers look different. Spacers and a top cap look like they are not seated correctly.

I really love this frame though. I have a steel gravel bike and hate how it rides. How is the ride quality on these? I will be on 42c tires.

I'm with you on this! But again - one side was so easy. The other side was just pure shit.

I can't tell you yet. I'm a slow builder. First project and I'm not in a rush. Hoping to get it done by this week.

Hi built up my bike yesterday but ran into some issues with the headset preload.

When i try to get play out of the fork, i have to tighten down the ahead cap so hard that i can not steer any more. And also it seems like I have literally zero gap between frame and fork in the bottom. can anatone share pics how it looks for them using tghe oroginal headset bearngs and fork crown ring

Hi, the lower gap on mine is actually quite large — I used the original headset set from Velobuild (see attachment).

I did have problems with the upper bearing though. There was no gap at all, and the top cover was rubbing against the frame. Velobuild offered to send me a replacement bearing (a taller one). For the time being, I solved the issue by adding a 1 mm thin washer on top of the C-ring.
