Safety problem - High stack spacer

Is it safe to leave those spacers above the stem for a period ? The expandeur is long and clamp all the stem.

Ever since I learned how much steerer tubes deform from stem clamping I also use those long expanders. No issues even when I had some spacers above stem working out my fit.

Are you testing a lower stem height? I think you should be fine especially since you're using a long compression plug.

It'll likely be fine with the long plug. Specialized would groan as they supply a long plug to go below the headset bearing due to issues they had early on with the sl7 and specify no more than 35mm of spacers for the sl8 fork now. But the consensus seems to be that the switch to a composite compression ring from metal solved the fork problem and that an expander that just supports the clamp area is likely ok.
