Frame for 2x Drivetrain and Wide Tires
« on: June 23, 2025, 07:48:52 AM »
Hi all,

I'm looking for frame recommendations to build up a gravel racing rig. Already have an all road bike with pretty solid (40mm) tire clearance so I want this to go well beyond that.

My two big criteria are
  • the frame works with 2x drivetrains. I have grx di2 11 speed in my parts bin, and running it with 46/30 or 50/34 rings and an 11-40 cassette is fantastic IMO
  • it can fit 2.1 schwalbe thunder burts on a wide internal (~30mm rim) while still running 2x

Other nice to have options would be
  • suspension corrected geo (or at least a ~400mm fork axle to crown)
  • somewhat aero shapes
  • udh
  • bsa or t47bb

I think the Tideace Noah/ State carbon all road and Yoleo g21 will do this but unsure if there are other options, maybe some of the newer frames from light carbon or the new release from velobuild? Would be awesome if there was something that would fit the 2.2 race king with 2x as well but I'm not sure thats really possible without a wider bb standard.

Thanks!

tantan GR201/ Tideace Noah is anything but aero tbh but

  • udh
  • bsa or t47bb

... all of it should be fine

If you need to know more about this frame AMA ;)
DH-Devinci Wilson carbon 2013 RC,
Enduro-Santa Cruz Hightower C 2023,
XC-Cannondale Scalpel Carbon 2023
and now tourist-Carbon GR201(some may call it a gravel even)

It's funny, especially in white like that, it looks like a low poly render of a bike, almost. So many sharp angles and basic shapes.

yeah, I don't love the look but that's why part of why an aero frame isn't that important for me. I get why people lust over nice-looking bikes but at the end of the day I care way more about if a frame can get my body in an aero position comfortably and fit the right wheels and tires for the job.
