Ryet RS oversized jockey wheels

Has anyone bought these oversized jockey wheels from Ryet? I know generally AliExpress ceramic jockey wheels are dodgy, but I was hoping as Ryet is a decent brand they might be better.

I also know the gains are minimal but this is more of an aesthetic upgrade for me.

Price seems high to me, but I'm sure it would work fine. The variability in pricing depending on region and individual has become extreme. I see a price of almost $120. Maybe you see a price much lower. I'm happy with a couple of other Ryet products so if the price were right I might give it a go.

The single biggest benefit IMO of the OSPW upgrade is the decrease in audible drivetrain noise. This comes down to jockey wheels and bearings. I don't have experience with this specific product, but I have experimented with a number of different alix jockey wheels on one of my sram drivetrain bikes. The shape and quality of the wheels and their engagement with the chain have been highly variable. I couldnt find any that worked as well as the sram wheels and I eventually gave up and bought genuine sram wheels.

I wouldn't worry too much about the bearings. In almost all cases, it is trivial to swap them out for higher quality bearings if it is an issue.

The price I'm looking at is equivalent to $62usd, so they must be more expensive in the US, from what you're seeing.

I'm upgrading from 105 jockey wheels, which just have bushings, so I've seen loads of people say to get the marginal gains from actual bearings. I was going to get Ultegra jockey wheels, but then thought I might try something else.

Like I said I'm not entirely in it for the gains, I also like to make my bike more aestheticly appealing.

Had one, broke a derailleur while racing. Not sure if it's the OSPW or not but shifting is better without so I've sold it.

I'm running this exact model on my "tinybikes" Ultegra DI2 12s. Been running well for about 2.000km. Didn't feel any change in shifting performance. Didn't test for any performance gains either. Mostly got it for the looks.

How do you find the Magene power meter? Is that the P505 or 515? How does it work with the Pass Quest chain rings, I'm looking at getting the same setup.

It's spot on. Got the P505 Base since I built the bike last year and the P515 wasn't even known back then. It's basically the same, just minor updates. Just get the newer version.

Also own one. It is okay. To be fair, only bought it for the looks. Shifting seems a bit better, but nothing too special. I have it on my 105 Di2.

I picked one up a while back as a more affordable alternative to the CeramicSpeed OSPW I’ve got on my other bike. Visually, they’re almost identical, and for an aesthetic upgrade, the Ryet definitely delivers.

That said, I had a bit of a mishap last week—on a ride, the lower jockey wheel came loose and vanished. Turns out the cage screws had worked themselves out. I hadn’t checked them beforehand, but to be fair, it’s not really a part you’d normally think to inspect on a bike. You just don’t expect it to fall apart like that.

This time around, with the replacement, I’m removing all the screws and applying Loctite before reinstalling—just to be safe. Performance-wise, the gains are minimal as expected, but if it’s mainly for looks, it’s a decent option. Just be prepared for a bit of DIY if anything goes loose.

Funny enough I was cleaning mine today after a pretty messy ride the other day. Noticed as well that some screws were a bit loose and one already missing. Luckily, didn't lose a cog. Had a replacement screw at home and used some medium locktite as well to reassemble.

I've got one bike with 105 Di2 which I have a 'proper OSPW' on - a knock off Ceramic speed which was a considerably cheaper affair than the Ryet. I have another bike with Ultegra Di2 which I fitted Fovno 16 teeth narrow / wide jockey wheels to the standard cage.

And to be honest... other than the looks, the fitting, performance, weight etc. is much better on the Fovno equipped standard cage. The fact that Shimano made the mechs with that much clearance, is almost begging for that mod to be done.

are the bearings sealed with rubber non contact seals? if so how has the performance been?

I have one as well on one of my bike. Dropped it on the floor prior to install it and the upper jockey wheel broke, but managed to replace it with a SRAM jockey wheel of a similar size (not noticeable on bike). Ryet promptly sent a spare jockey wheel but I didn’t bother installing it. Other than that it’s ok but mostly aesthetic. Bearings spin nicely.
