Author Topic: First Build - Need help figuring what parts are compatible and what parts to buy  (Read 7715 times)

Hello everyone,

After consuming lots of content on the forum, I am set on getting my first build.
I will mainly buy my bike parts from Xiamen Carbon Speed, current specs I am considering:
-Gran Turismo endurance frameset + Handle bar (size 54)
-24mm titanium spindle crankset
-50/34 carbon chainrings (according to Peter, this is "Easton interface designed"
-D50CU-33 26mm internal T1100 wheelset 20/20H
-For the spider, I was looking to get one with a power meter, finding it difficult to find one that is compatible with what Peter's is selling
-For the bottom bracket, I need to buy a T47-85.5mm (external width), again finding it difficult to find one.
-Planning on getting a Shimano 105 DI2 group set without the chainrings
-Sadle, pedals, and tyre will be bought  ( no risk of compatibility there ?)

Looking forward for your spider and BB recommendations.

In term of parts, did I forget anything ?
I have a friend who has already built bikes so I won't be alone but feeling worried I am forgetting something/buying something that won't be compatible.

Thanks in advance !

Easton style mount PM ==> Xcadey e.g. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008325843762.html
However if you get Easton style chainrings, you cannot mount a spider PM in between as those would mount directly onto the crankset. You either need to get different style of PM (pedals, crank) or use different chainrings (usually BCD 110 4 or 5 bolt).
T47 BB ==> you want one labeled T47-24i(nternal); ZTTO has decent BBs for low price, e.g. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007306051032.html
Saddle: make sure the rails (either 7x7 round or 7x9 oval) match your seatpost clamp. Most seatposts come with both clamps now but wanna double check.
Get some foam dampeners for the hydraulic lines to suppress rattling, e.g. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007445606239.html

Make sure you or your friend has all the (special) tools you need to assemble the bike. Otherwise you will be sitting on your ass waiting for them to arrive once you figure out you are missing something.
Slow on the climb. And everywhere else.

Thanks for your answer !

Debatting if going with carbon chainrings would be to noisy.
I also consider new SRAM Rival 1x 13s with either carbon speed's 29mm DUB aluminum spindle crankset or full SRAM group set.

For the BB, the seller mentionned that it also needs to be 85,5 wide (outer part).
Does a good BB have a real impact ? Was orginally looking for Chrisking ones but the price difference is cosmic haha.

If I go with Xcadey what chainring(s) would you advice ?

Will check for the saddle and buy foam dampeners.
Will also double check tools.

Thanks again for the help

Have no experience with carbon chainrings, so cannot comment on that one.

If you go for SRAM 29mm DUB, you also need to get a T47-29i BB, the 24mm version would obviously not fit.

That's why you want an i(nternal) BB. The X(external) one if for frames with a 68-73mm wide frame.

Can't say if the premium would be worth it (for you). I always went with the cheap ones. You can always change the bearings to a better one and still use the BB shell. The thread type BBs are usually not too much of an issue. Pressfit might be different story. If there are too big of a deviation from the standard (talking fractions of mm), then creaking can occur quite quickly.

I have the carbon rings on my Cybrei and they’re ok as long as I wax my chain.
My OEM crank from DFS I have the PassQuest 53-39 and they have been great although I did order  XMC carbon rings with my wheels so I will be swapping them.
But nothing shift like Shimano. But the rings are really plus I like the aero benefit and the aesthetics.

Also both have XCADEY powers power meters. DFS also sources me the PM cheaper than I could get it and the chainrings.

Thanks again, really appreciate. Starting to better understand what I 'red to buy depending on what I want.
PMed you.

PMed you to ask a few more questions about your set up.

For the crank setup just source everything from Peter. Crankset + 110BCD carbon chainrings and maybe he can supply you the Xcadey power meter to complete the build. For the wheels go with D50CU-36. T47 BBs are expensive. Maybe try to go with Token. Others also recommends Cactus from Ali.

Peter just answered me he won't source anything because of potential warranty issues.
in that case, I'd rather go with something like :
https://xcadey.com/product/xpower-crankset-110bcd-with-chainring/
What do you think?
