9velo v XMCarbonSpeed?

So, I ordered a set of 9Velo CD Wide wheels in 50/58 depth...this was before I found this forum. They are still being built and I have paid for them. Since reading a ton about Peter and his company XMCS, I'm sort of debating cancelling my order(if possible) with 9Velo and ordering a set of Peters wider road wheels.

I want to be able to run 30 or 32 with a near perfect transition for aero gains (I need all the benefits during races to make up for my abysmal FTP lol). So the 30mm width of the 9Velo has me a bit worried. Hambini recently released a Short showing off the transition of these wheels/tires but he never mentioned the width of the tire itself.
Hambinis review of the 9Velo wheels were the reason I purchased them. He boasts their hubs a lot and the construction of everything. Are the XMCS hubs on par, better, or worse than the 9Velo ones? Anyone have experience riding these side by side? Or is there another thread you can link me to?

To be honest, there’s not much real difference between many of the wheels on the market right now. Personally, I’d go with the XMC 50/60 set over the 9Velo—they’re around $350 USD cheaper, lighter, and have a premium feel and finish. I just don’t see what the 9Velo wheels offer to justify the additional cost. There are also other OEM options out there offering similar specs for even less—around $680 USD.

Thats kinda what I was worried about. I've already reached out to 9Velo to see if I can cancel the order. The only difference is that 9Velo offers a Titanium Freehub body to help prevent cassette bite...I'm guessing the ceramic bearings are probably the same.

as Sander said, not a lot in it. I have a pair of 9Velo CD45's and they have been great. I'll probably move them to my gravel bike at some point and do maybe a wider set (34 outer width) in 50/55 but honestly the aero difference will be very marginal. i only expect to get a compliance difference.

A lot offer TPi ceramic TPI Bearings Co., Ltd., a Taiwanese company.
Titanium free hub body is a nice touch but still nkr something that would make me buy the wheels.
Don’t get me wrong im sure they are a great set of wheels I’m not knocking them. Obviously you only know what you know

I totally get that. I dont think the Ti freehub body is worth the overall price difference between the two wheels. I could buy MANY aluminum freehub bodies for that price difference lol

9velo are a waste of money, just go to farsports oem channels and you can get literally the same product for less

I'm not in a rush. I just ordered my X68 last night and its getting custom paint, so I'm assuming that will take longer than the wheels lol

Same time period in some cases for OEM wheels anywhere maybe from 15-25 days that’s what’s it’s been for all 3 set of wheels I have ordered so far then shipping to UK a further 10days +
Most dont always hold stock and it’s built to order.

Prices are the same regardless of rim depth — just choose the depth you prefer (e.g. 50mm front / 60mm rear), then select:

As I suspected, my rims are already being built and they told me I cannot cancel the order because of the custom nature of my wheels...Well you live and learn. At least I didn't drop 3000 on a wheelset only to find ones for 1/3 less haha
