But the steerer tube already is curved on the bottom, so the bearing already sits nice on the fork without the crown race.
Yeah, I read this entire thread a few weeks ago and I think this came up several times. They seem to send the crown race because it's part of the headset set they include or something but as you say it's not required as the bearing already sits correctly on the fork as is.
Now, in relation to this... Please let us know if there is any rub between the fork and frame once the headset is tightened as some people previously suggested the bearings may (occasionally) sit to deep in the frame or are not tall/wide enough (ordering slightly taller ones would fix this but it would be unfortunate to then realize the fork has been cut too short
