Hello everyone, I just opened the xcadey app after a long time and saw they completely changed the UI and now have released a beta update to fix the cadence/power issues. I'm not strong enough yet to push 1000W so I'd be grateful if someone could test it and see if this update is any useful! Thank you :)

I'll re-test at some point.

iirc someone said they removed the real time offset reporting in their app? If they have, that's a step backwards. Also raises questions as to why they'd do that as it was extremely useful in debugging issues.

I‘d like to test that, too, but since the update mine does no longer connect to the app. Anyone else with this issue?

Same for me, I can only connect via the iPhone, my Android (Mi15) does not connect.
That being said, I did not bother using the APP with the new UI so far.

No problems connecting to the new UI on Android. Are you scanning for the device first and then selecting it ?

I'm again testing the Xcadey, outdoor, however not the whole crankset but the Gen 2. That is the link for the previous one - https://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,6884.msg101940.html#msg101940

Regarding the app, the update was around three weeks ago, it looks much different now, they changed UI. Regarding the software version, I'm using the beta now, maybe I should switch to the standard one. However If they are releasing that, I wanted to have the most up to date version.

I will work on some post later. At the moment I can say that it's very similar to indoor workouts. The difference is stable, around 10w. I didn't have any issues during the rides, with cadence, so I'm quite happy and satisfied. Moreover, I discover that sometimes my Favero was not showing the proper power fo sure. I had much more than 600w and it shows around 300 w.

The most interesting part is that I started the comparison with standard round chainring, next I switched to Oval. For the round, the difference was for some part maximum around...2w, for the whole workout the readings were almost the same for both! After the re-installation and assembling the oval chainring, I started to have 10w difference. I added some examples. The other interesting thing, which should be checked is the reading and showing/displaying of the reading. As you can see below, the maximum was 1154 and 1167, garmins showed more than 1200w during and after the ride. I making the comparison on Fenix 8 and Edge 850.

My some small thoughts and comment on the end. In general and it's rather funny. The voice of expertes sitting in front of the screen, riding for buns to the coffee shop or around the chimney like we say in Poland. People who only can criticise, doing nothing, not providing any added value. I started the comparison with the confidence that it is a crap. Then the results were not bad, sometimes almost identical, I would say acceptable for amateur. Again I will underline, stable and fair for Gen 2, which I stated many times. Then I heard, only after 600w you will find some real results. I did a lot of workouts above 600w, didn't see anything unusual and strange. Then I heard, only above 1000w is a real problem. Okay, I thought I will have some sprints later so I will check this. I'm not a sprinter, so firstly I did some 1000w, 6 times, 8 times another day, no issues, then I had some 15-20s above 1000w with values above 1200w, the same situation.

one update from today, like I said, I will changed oval to the round chainring. That is the outcome from short taper workout from today. There are some small differences, but that is on the margin of mistake of both power meters I would say. I attached the FIT files

Yep, it no longer shows the offset. Very annoying.

That’s telling. It allowed people to confirm the Gen 2 meter issues without needing a second or third comparison unit. Removing that feature makes testing their meter a lot more difficult (and expensive). How convenient.

As mentioned, I’ll retest when I get the chance. My concern is that if the update doesn’t fix what they claim, it further damages their reputation. That’s not my intention, but it becomes inevitable if their “fix” can’t be confirmed.

We’ve seen this before with the Elilee EK01. Two units failed initial testing, they issued a multi-page “fix” announcement, the problems persisted… and then silence for over two months.

ThinkRider claims my issues were due to incorrect installation. That wasn’t communicated to me directly (which would have been the right move) but instead buried in replies to others on social media.

So at this point, I’ve got a stack of “new” power meters that don’t pass my testing protocol. What’s becoming more interesting isn’t the failures, it’s how each company (and their “associates”) responds when those issues are put in front of them.

Have you tested any 5 arm vs. 4 arm versions of these PMs?

Just curious if there is any indication that the problem might actually be in the spiders vs. in the electronics.

Do you mean mean bolt pattern? If so - no, and the bolt pattern hasn't ever been mentioned by the manufacturers as a potential cause of the issues reported. I also don't see that being a factor.

My testing shows NO issues were resolved with firmware 109. Gen II accelerometer still failing in sprints and residual torque after hard efforts observed.

That was a waste of a few hours. Thanks XCadey.

No surprise, really. So this one and the Coospo that I basically just ordered out of curiosity are more or less for the bin. I‘m sure that they‘ll eventually figure it out, but the common AE rule applies: don‘t buy stuff from the low end of the price spectrum.

I'm finding the quality of support/service from these budget brands is also extremely poor. Like warranty, it's not something a lot of people take into account when choosing a product.

I think everyone understand that at $100 a PM, you should not expect the service level of the big brands and that these can quickly become paper weight, it’s part of the accepted risk.
I think that what you seem to fail to understand is that many of us don’t have your level of expectation as far as accuracy (where i am with you is on repeatability) and are fine having an offset and that for our particular use cases, these could be fine. I have a 210ftp, a 700w max power or rather that’s the max power i ever read off of my pes515, because I never tried to measure my max 3s sprint power because I just don’t care about that number. That’s me today in my biker journey, maybe will come a point where this will be relevant and my technical expectation will increase accordingly. But today my xcadey gen 2 will do just fine on my mtb.
