Another all-road/endurance frame topic...

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to build an all-road/endurance bike for my 50th next year. I will be riding 95% on proper roads, albeit often quite bad ones, so one requirement for this build is Gravelking Slick+ 35mm tires, I will pretty much never run anything wider, and pretty much never anything knobby.

I go bike-packing a few times a year and I run a simple rear rack, so rack mounting points are also required.

Not really after a gravel frame, but my requirements do land me in that area, I don't care too much about weight since I'm around 90kg myself, and not too fussed about wheels, just steel spokes for comfort...

Currently looking at LightCarbon LCG071 with their LCG26 gravel wheels. The frame and wheels, with shipping, land me around $1400 which is about my budget. Groupset will be either 105 Di2 or Ultegra.

Do you guys have any other frame suggestions on:
- all-road, comfort
- 35mm tire clearance
- rear rack mounts
- around $750

My SP Cycle G069 checks all the boxes. Except that it can take up to 45mm tires but that is a good thing IMHO (more future-proof)

If the latter i would look at Lightcarbon LCR018-D, takes 38c tires.

For sure more endurance/all-road, but LCR018 doesn't have rack mounting points, otherwise it would be top of my list for sure!

The geometry is near the Canyon Endurace, just slam the stem and you have a road bike.

Oh, it's one of those 'allergic to straight lines' designs... I think that is not for me... My OCD would trigger every time I saw it!

Don't limit yourself to having to having to have built in rack frame mtg locations.

Based on personal experience over the past 5 years of Bikepacking \ camping, on very challenging and rough gravel courses, I have migrated to using a seat post rack clamp an "Old Man Mountain Axle kit".

Their thru axles put the weight of your gear right over the rear hub, and the seat post clamps locate the rack's front mount in a great position.

+1 on the rear mount. Cade media on YT advertised the tailfin systems, it's the fancy option for bike packing, w/o using rear mounts.
Rear mounts = gravel frame, and you wont be riding gravel, but a gravel frame isn't a road frame.

From there, the Mondince 126 (see thread) will clear 35C, and is spot on, price wise. It's my next frame. Aero frame.
The Long Teng 301 may be a great choice (see thread), some just built 2 and they look great. All road frame w storage box.
Both come from the same factory, but use different names. My daily driver comes from this factory, and they OEM for Cube & Argon18 among others.

The 126 has the geometry of an SL8 though. The 301 is more relaxed. Neither is endurance geometry, so you'd have to use spacers. Light carbon released a cockpit with ~10mm of positive stack.

If I go this route, which does sound rather appealing, then I think I'm leaning towards Lightcarbon LCR018-D...

I'm currently leaning towards a LT RD301-D size 580, which seems to suit my current needs;

Hi Andy, out of curiosity: did you consider a custom titanium frame, e.g. from Waltly.
Some of your requirements and thoughts sound like this could be an option for you, as well?

Yes I did, I'd actually be very interested in a non-carbon frame in general! But I do really want a fully integrated frame...
