Regarding this, and considering that you tested the QuickPro ER:One with many wheelsets, do you think that a 36mm rear rim is too wide for the ER:One? I am specifically looking at EliteWheels Drive SL 58D SS (36 front, 34 rear) and Zen Carbon Vaporlite II (36 mm front and rear).

I measured the frame, about 8mm of clearance with my current wheel that is 30mm wide externally and about 6 mm of clearance with a 31mm tire.
36mm rim means +3mm on each side, so I would get 5mm of clearance between rim and frame...for the tire I would say that 33mm is the absolute maximum I would run (I would probably prefer a 32mm WAM tire).

What I am most worried about is the tire combination with the rim. 36 mm external is wide. 32 mm WAM x 1.09 is 34.88mm...36mm rim width seems reasonable only when running at least a 33mm WAM tire, otherwise is just added frontal area.

I’ve actually tried something very close to this. I fitted a Tagoola Aura wheelset with a 35.8mm external and 26mm internal rim to the ER:One.

I tested them with 34mm tyres that measured just over 36mm, and they did fit, but on the rear it was sailing a bit too close to the wind for me. I’d personally stick with a 32mm tyre that measures around 33–34mm. That gives you a much more sensible amount of clearance.

I also had to remove the little front derailleur Di2 cable clip and tape the cable back. I rode the setup for around 20km and put tape on the inside of the chainstays so I could check afterwards for any signs of rubbing. There were no marks, but personally I wouldn’t run a tyre measuring around 36mm on the rear again.

When I get my SL9 build back, I’ll try my 60mm VaporLite II wheels on the ER:One as well. They’ve got 32mm tyres on the rear, although I can’t remember exactly what they measure in reality. The 30mm front tyre measures 32.29mm, so that should give me another useful comparison.

So yes, a 36mm external rim can fit, but for me the bigger consideration is the actual measured tyre width rather than just the rim width. I’d be much happier with a 32mm tyre that blows up slightly wider than trying to run something measuring around 36mm at the rear.

If you message me here , I’ve got some photos and a video of the Tagoola setup I can whatsapp you
