very tight seatpost
« on: November 02, 2025, 10:18:31 PM »
About to put my new bike together... but the seatpost is extremely tight. I put it in a bit but it clearly would scratch the paint on the seatpost and is of course not going to be easy to adjust the height.
Looks like very slight polishing the post is needed - basically just thinning down the paint layer should do it.  Any recommendations what would be best? my thought was to use polishing compound for car paint followed with polish.

POTOOOOOOOO

It’s usually better to sand the seat tube than the seat post.
Sometimes it can be as simple as a paint/ clear coat run that needs to be removed.
