Tijoe, You've gotten most of the brakes available from AliEx, which ones are the best so far in your opinion? How would you rate them against common Sram or Shimano stuff?
(LOL) Before venturing into hydraulic brakes sold through Aliexpress, all I rode was Scumano XT 2 piston brakes. XTs were all I knew. My focus was primarily on the IIIPro 4-piston brakes because they were affordable and appeared to be well made. On my FS Mtn bike, the IIIPros have worked well, but a lot fewer miles than on my hardtail/bikepacker where I have had non-stop problems with the IIIPros. I ran a set of ZTTO M840s for a while, and they were OK, but the bike they are on developed a crack in the frame, so there they sit.
I guess my baseline is I want brakes where I don't have to think about them, or complain about them, or adjust them. I just want to ride them and swap pads when needed. (The IIIPros haven't met this criteria.)
Then I started thinking. The 2-piston Wheeltop EDS calipers that came with my EDS TX kit, have been quietly stopping my gravel bike for thousands of miles and I still haven't had to replace the pads. (
I did have problems with the levers locking up, different story 1+ years ago) (This wasn't a caliper problem.)
Therefore, these new Wheeltop brakes might be a lot better than The IIIPros. (Crap shoot?)
I believe I posted elsewhere, that my focus is to find a set of affordable/on-sale set of Hope Tech E4 or V4 brakes. I need foolproof dependable brakes on my hardtail/bikepacker that for the past several years gets abused more than the rest of my bikes. (I am not liking the DOT5.1 fluid, but can live with that if I buy a set.)
I was focusing on "lewis brakes" but after the tariffs were added, why purchase them when one can purchase other more proven expensive brakes
