Until a Chiner company manufactures a gravel frame more like the Salsa Cutthroat, and fits 55mm/2.3 tires I will continue to use my Spcycle SP-M05 as my bikepacking work horse.   It is so easy to reconfigure between flat bars, or "H" bars or to put on a 100mm travel front fork, I run a dropper post, and I can readily install racks and other gear mounting features.  (Plus, its baseline weight is close to a Kg less than my 6 year old Seraph framed gravel bike - choice of tires and wheels dependent.)

I've posted the attached pic in other threads.  This is how this bike spends a lot of its time these days.

Edit:  I am also an advocate of a frame geometry that can run a 100mm travel suspension fork.   That really puts the frame back into a 29er hardtail category, but I never liked it when I tried a short travel gravel suspension fork on my gravel bike, all it did was add weight versus the suspension I expected.
OTOH, running 2.0 to 2.2 tires on this rig, and loaded for camping, I have yet to wish I was running the front suspension fork on a long trip.  The bigger tires are so much more comfortable on long rough descents versus the 42s I run on my gravel bike. On long descents, I descend so much faster than my gravel bike friends.

Good news! :D Guys from Seraph and Spcycle from AliExpress wrote me that they will develop a new gravel frame for 700x55 tires in 2026! 700x55 is the same as 29x2.1, so it will be a good option for those who want to ride gravel bike on 29x2.1 Schwalbe Thunder Burt tires. Hope those frames will have affordable prices :)

I just want a proper gravel bike with good 55mm clearance. Something like an Allied Able or Enve Mog.
In Frame Storage, light weight, good clearance, with a racier geometry.
The new Seka is nice, but way over priced for a Chinese frame.

I wonder what other features Seraph and Spcycle will consider on this wide-tire frame.   As most of us know, as you go to larger tires, you need to gain more clearance for the chain moving past the tire in its lowest gear.   This often drives a wider bottom bracket shell.   BSA73 or BB92 (or other wider standard).  Then if you go with the wider front chain-line, then you might as well go with a boost rear hub. 148mm.   I'd really like to see these features.  Better standardization with more common MTB wheels, bottom brackets and crank-sets.
I could go either way regarding the front triangle, top tube being closer to compact geometry, seat post tube angle, BB drop/location being closer to gravel frame geometry.
I would really love it if this frame could handle a 100mm front susp. fork, and be geometry corrected for a  29er fork with 415/420 blades.

Do they go with 34 mm bolt spacing of the post mount brake standard, or the 74mm flat mount.   (I prefer 74mm flat mount because I am a heavy rider these days and I want larger brakes with at least 180 rotors,  versus the standard 2 piston calipers matched to most gravel brake/shifter sets.)

Lots of detail for them to consider, as gravel bikes and 29er hardtails converge.

I guess it comes down to usage. Will this be a race oriented gravel frame intended for primarily asphalt and gravel roads, or an all-terrain type bike where the rider will ride on gravel and single-track.    (For me, my current gravel bike with 42mm tires works really well for most of the gravel grinders I ride, but for some reason many of my gravel rides always seem to end up on a bunch of challenging off-road terrain where I really want/need wider more-forgiving grippy rough surface tires.

I designed one myself with 700x58 clearance for 48T chainrings out of titanium. It will arrive with the next two weeks.

Plenty of modern gravel frames have proven that wider chainlines are not necessary. Hell, the Ari Shafer has official clearance for a 52T chainring at 47.5mm chainline with 2.25" tires and short chainstays (428 in a size S for example).
There is no need for boost, and it's nice to be able to run road cranksets.

As for chinese frames with big clearance, there is always the Yeoleo G21. But aside from that, most of the frames currently popular on this forum will take a 2.1" Thunder Burt without too much trouble. Hopefully more will come soon.

Yoeleo G21 is a bit expensive. Hope new and affordable chinese carbon gravel frames for 700x55 tires will come in 2026 :)

Personally, I wont purchase a frame with a "D" shaped seat post.  I require a dropper post. I have become addicted to them on all of the high speed descents I ride on rough downhills.

Hi,

I'm in the market for the same as you describe - I agree with your view on the Yoeleo G21, but I have not managed to find anything that claims at least 53 mm clearance. Have you set your hopes for 2026?

I'm pretty close to pushing the button on a Mondince FM316, but I would still like a bit more clearance, but I have a race in April 2026 which I need an upgrade for (currently using at Trek Boone for gravel).

I wonder if we'll see this frameset sold through Carbonda or TanTan or the like this spring.  The Obed Boundary is a Carbonda CFR-696 frameset so it is plausible, unless Obed is now licensing the mold and not strictly customizing open molds framesets.

 I bought one for testing...
Cheap frame.
Looks good to me.
On the picture, tyres are 29 x 2.4"

It looks interesting. Let us know how it rides when you complete the build.

By the way, I've got good news from Spcycle. They wrote that they are going to develop gravel frameset for 700x57 tires, so it will probably fit the most popular "gravel" tire - Schwalbe Thunder Burt 29x2,2  :D

Did they give any timeline?

Talked to TanTan/Seraph today and they're sticking to 50mm max. No new frames with more clearance on the way
