BUYER BEWARE – STAY FAR AWAY FROM YOHOBIKES - A Warning from My Horrible Experience

I contacted Yoho Bikes ahead of time to confirm color (painted gloss black), availability, and timing. Tom assured me they had a 56 frame in stock and sent a photo of the supposed frame. I repeatedly asked to confirm the carbon type (T1100/T1000), and they confirmed it was.

They asked for payment via Wise, cheaper than AliExpress or PayPal. Trusting their good “pre-sale” communication, I paid.

After a week with no tracking number, I asked for an update. They said it would come soon. Ten days later, no update. When I pressed, Tom claimed the package was returned to them. Without tracking, I doubted this and asked for a refund. Tom promised to resend it the next day.

Three weeks after payment, I finally got a UPS tracking number. UPS delivered in 4 days.

But when I unboxed the frame, my heart sank. The paint was patchy gloss black, partially clear coat with huge streaks. The fork had odd patch marks and was only partially painted.
I sent photos to Tom, who dismissed my concerns, calling the lines / streaks "carbon fiber weave."

A carbon expert inspected it and said the quality was terrible, noting some areas might not even be carbon but epoxy. The downtube flexed when squeezed. The carbon was definitely not T1000, likely not even T800, and poorly layered. The carbon guy said the frame was dangerous.

I asked Tom how Yoho would fix this—refund or correct frame. 1 week later, no reply despite daily messages.

In short: they took my money, sent a dangerous / subpar frame that didn’t match my order or their photo, and now ignore me.

You don’t need a “carbon expert” to know that it’s clearly UD carbon fibre with clear coat over the top, and not painted.
There is absolutely no way to differentiate what a frame is made from, so impossible to say if it has T1100/T1000.

All carbon frames will flex to some degree if squeezed.

Suspicious of a 1st post bashing a company containing sooooo many errors.

Im sorry this happened to you, but you did buy a fake frame and didn't use PayPal or AliExpress which have buyer protections, these should have been red flags

I agree – you do realise this is a counterfeit frame, right? And you’re probably breaking the laws of your country by buying one!
The risk when buying these products is always going to be far far far greater than buying a legitimate frame from a local bike shop. How can anyone not be aware of that?

Yep normal looks like the imperfect nature of UD Raw carbon underneath a gloss finish. No different than what I see underneath my Genuine SL8 and X68 (SL8)

Well I would not fully discount the expert, if this was a visual inspection then I will.                                                                                                                                                                                        If there has been some scanning etc of the frame I would love to see the report myself

I fully agree the Carbon expert and to your safety I fully recommend sending this frame straight to me! I am an expert on Carbon recyling (Source: Trust me bro!)

Looks fine to me. The top tube and down tube of the genuine Ostro VAM are very thin and also flex when squeezed...

If it doesn't assplode while doing an 80km mountain descent, you should be fine. Next time don't buy a fake branded frame just to impress the tight spandex boys at the Sunday coffee ride!

I would say don't buy a fake if you don't know your stuff well enough.

I looked at this thread in the expectation that something really bad happend, like wrong threading in the bottom bracket, or like we had with other Fauxtros that the rear tringle is off. But complaints about UD carbon wasn't on the list of things I expected

I am going to buck the trend and say that this frame looks sloppy to me in terms of the intentionally visible layup, both in terms of placement and the lack of finishing under the clearcoat. The clearcoat also looks really thick, but we are operating from photos here. Real Factors aren't the cleanest in this regard, but this is a different level. That said, I also don't see cracks or anything that, on visual inspection, suggests that this bike should be returned.

IDK what else you expect buying a fake. A little bit of sloppy layup that most people won't notice is far from the worst outcome.

FWIW, no one in the tight-spandex crowd really cares what kind of bike you have on the ride. People care a lot more about whether or not you are just dangling off the back or pulling through on the group ride. IMO, you are generally way better off not buying a fake and putting premium towards a good aero road helmet or something.

You bought a raw carbon frame and are looking for perfect smooth frame? You bought carbon yet you are squeezing it where it's suppose to flex? What's next? You can fit 35mm tires or your back is hurting because the frame is too aggressive?
