So, sometimes you can come across listings on Aliex that have stock based in Europe. For people like me, based in Europe, that kind of stuff can entirely make or break a good deal. So i thought i would put up a thread here where one can share decent purchases shipped from closer to home, to save money, time and the environment.

I needed an upgrade on my cheap old truing stand, and have been wanting to spring for one of them fancier Centrimaster copies you can find on ali for around €100-150. The shipping on these things usually comes in at around the same (around €100 minimum), and i had in fact ordered one in the summer (at sale for €190 w/shipping) only for the shipment logistics to get killed on the way.

That's why i was chuffed to find one during the black friday sale period, which was stored in Czech Republic. It arrived 10 days after ordering at a final price with tax for €117. Listing here if anyone's curious: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005270626539.html

You can't always trust the shipped from Europe promise. I ordered Elilee cranks and even contacted the seller and he confirmed it will be shipped from Europe. It was then shipped from China.

same thing with CSC wheels. They claim to ship from Europe but as soon as you order "oh no, that specific configuration is out of stock, but you're in luck! we are shipping it from China without the additional charge"

Didn't see this post for a while, but yeah, can absolutely recommend. It's stable without being fastened to anything, and the base also has holes for screwing it permanently in place if you have space for that in your shop.

In my case, there's no space so i store it and set it up each time it's needed. Got an alignment gauge (like 10eur from f.ex. Toopre) for that purpose, which is alright when looking to build a wheel from scratch, otherwise not really needed.

The "clock" dials are not necessarily needed as you can usually make out if the wheel is true by eye, but i suppose they can be used to measure 0.Xmm runout. There's a gauge for brake disc truing as well which i haven't used as i'm used to just truing discs in the caliper but i figure i should try it sometime.

The stand has two main legs which are movable horizontally to pinch different wheel widths, which means the legs, which normally should be resting on the bottom plate, are slightly elevated off the bottom and actually resting on the two horizontal adjusting screws. This means you can make them lean/skew by putting weight from the top or by pinching/widening them with the wheel axle. Just be aware of this when using the stand and it's entirely fine.
