Advice on a ICAN 017 or Winow/BXT TT 119
« on: January 26, 2026, 01:41:25 PM »
I'm in the process of buying a bike for my triathlons. During my search, the option of building one myself from a lesser‑known brand came up, which is of course financially quite interesting. Since I don’t need to win the Olympics with it, performance and quality that are simply good are enough for me perfection isn’t necessary.

I’ve already read quite a few topics here on Chinertown and on the frames I’m currently considering, but I’m not getting a clear picture of everything. So that’s why I’m starting a new topic, hoping you can help me further.

At the moment, my search has led me to the ICAN TT017 or the Winow/BXT TT119. Both seem suitable for my goals, although I have a better feeling about the quality of the ICAN, is that correct? But I also find the sizing for the ICAN quite difficult to determine. On a Cervélo P‑Series I would need a size 54, possibly with a stem that’s 1 cm longer. And since the TT119 has an almost identical geometry, that choice is easy, but for the ICAN it isn't Are there people who can give sizing advice for the ICAN TT017 when using the Cervélo P‑Series size 54 as a reference?

And not unimportant when buying a bike, I couldn’t find much about the ride performance of the ICAN. How is the comfort, stiffness, etc. of the bike?
So basically I have three questions. The first one has already been discussed quite a bit, but I'm asking it again just as a double‑check.

1. Is there any quality difference between the ICAN and the Winow/BXT
2. Which size ICAN TT017 would you recommend if a Cervélo P‑Series 54 is my reference?
3. And how does the ICAN perform in terms of comfort, stiffness, and general ride characteristics?

I have used the BXT TT 119 in 2025 in a few triathlons. Nothing bad to say about this frame, worked out pretty good! I know have the Ican, because I liked it more visually ;-). Still not ride it outside so can not compare the feeling and handling of this bike. I keep you informed...

I recently purchased an ICAN TT-017 frame, but haven't built it up yet so I can't speak to 1 or 3 (but if you check the TT-017 thread you can see my frame potentially came with brake mount facing issues).

My road bike is a size 54 Cervélo S5, I'm 181cm with an 81cm inseam. I'm somewhere between 54 and 56 for the S5, so I assume I would be a 54 with the P-Series. ICAN recommended the Large size TT-017 frame for me. Again, have not built the bike up yet so can't verify that this was the correct recommendation but for now I'll assume they know better than me.

Can you still get the ICAN TT017? I cant find it anywhere now.

I have the medium and Im 176cm. It fits well but I would like a longer reach for my riding style. I would like to try the large for size if that has a longer reach but remember thats for me and everyone's style is different, just look at the pro's.
The TT017 seat post geometry makes the seat sit too far back for my liking. I like to have the end of the seat in line or further forward than the BB. My ISM seat is at the max adjustment to be in line with the BB. If you know your position and set up i would be looking at this when selecting a frame.

I would select a bike on adjustability and customisation of the front end. Height wise for the seat post will be no issue but the fit and your position will make the biggest difference on a TT bike.
You want to be able to adjust the height and length of the TT bars to get the position you want.
I would say the 54 is around the medium size but bear in mind what I have said above.

Thanks for the tips. I have indeed already read the TT017 topic. And the front end of the TT017 is less adjustable than that of the TT119, which I do see as a disadvantage.
At the moment I don't have a bike that is perfectly fitted to me, so unfortunately I can’t take exact measurements. I’ll have to rely on some intuition and common sense  ::)
I'm still curious whether there are people who have ridden the bike for a while and can share something about its performance on the road.

What size did you have for the E119, and what size do you have for the 017? Does it feel comparable?

winow quoted me this "TT119+ARB02=919$, shipping fee 288$" to the US plus the cost of custom paint.
