« on: March 08, 2026, 08:10:35 AM »
Hi all

I would like to build a road wheelset for 28mm tires and rims must be 65mm in profile and around 27-30mm i.w.
Can you namedrop a few good places to look at? :-)

Rims only!

25mm IW is good for 28mm tires. Wouldn't look at 27-30mm for that width.
Also OW is usually around 30-31mm at the beads then.
Try looking at XM Carbon Speed, Zen carbon or DFS carbon. On all these you can choose different weight of rims, you can choose hubs and spokes. So you can customize the wheels for your needs.

XMCS does have 26/33 IW/OW 65mm deep wheels which may be good for you, But they would probably fit better with 30mm tires 😎

I dont think you will be able to seat the tyre, let alone keep it it seated while riding.

DFS and XMCS are 2 of the better known sellers who have a good reputation.

Rims only!
Not sure if building your own wheels is a good idea. How did you  get these specs you are aiming at?

@Zeus
Building your own wheels is always a good idea ;-)
Some more reliable rims manufacturers:
Timetec
CarbonBeam
Carbonal
I've build wheels with rims of Al of these three without any problem.

We recommend choosing the internal rim width based on the tire manufacturer's suggestions. For a 28mm tire, the acceptable internal width ranges from 18mm to 25mm.

65mm deep with a 27-30mm inner width?
Do you mean external width?
Gravel wheelsets normally 25-32mm inner width
