I will go for L also, more seatpost out = more flex and confort, you can have some spacer and as you get more fit and more flexible you will slam the stem and be faaast and sexy

What are your body measurements? Like inseam length, arm length and body height?

Question to everybody who has build up an FM336 already:
Does the headset Mondince provides works fine?
There's so many threads on frames where the headset seems to be a typical problem.
Waiting that m frame gets cleared by European custom.
White pearl glossy in size S.
But need to know if I should get another headset.

i am literraly the opposite of you ! a real monkey... 179cm with 192cm span and short leg 83cm inseam. I need a M with extra long stem xD

I just ordered my frame, 615€ with shipping and handlebar.

The Gavere in general works for me, yes. When I see the bikeinsights diagram I just think "is even the XL too small for me?"

Yeah, these diagrams are pretty abstract, I guess it's one of the disadvantages of trying to order something from halfway across the world. To put some more context around this, here's... another diagram, this one from xenograft's bike fitting tool. What it shows is where your handlebars would be if you used the same stem on both bikes; the red solid line is your Stevens, the blue dashed line is the FM336 size XL.

I assumed some numbers (e.g. your saddle height and setback), so take the following numbers with a grain of salt.

The first thing this shows is that on the Mondince your handlebars (with everything else being equal) would sit 18.3mm lower. In other words, you'd need to add some spacers on the Mondince if you wanted to match your position on the Stevens. Which generally isn't a problem unless you have a ton of spacers on the Stevens.

I made a mistake when it comes to the reach difference; it says 19.6mm but it's actually closer to 13mm (I forgot to move your saddle back to match your Stevens). So you need to compensate with a longer stem; again, not a problem unless you are using a very long stem on the Stevens already.

And you'd want to move back your saddle by about 7mm to keep your setback from the BB consistent (check whether you have enough space on your saddle rails).

Lastly, if you wanted to move from a more relaxed gravel position to a a sportier road position, the general wisdom is to go a little lower (no problem on the Mondince, since the frame is smaller) and a little longer (more of a problem if you have a pretty long stem already).

Thank you so much for the detailed analysis @chiyou - means a lot.

I think right now I lean to size L and just adapt to it since the XL FM336 is so close to my current stevens (it has the same stack to reach ratio for example). And I got the feeling that I can tinker around a bit more in Size L. My only fear is, that my legs are too long for size L. And on the other side my arms could be too short in size XL. Idk man its hard  - maybe I am overthinking and overanalyzing way too much here..  ::)

Just some side Information (dont know if it helps for further analysis): Never really changed anything on the stevens. I had a bike fitting once but they didnt do much adjustments there. I have the adjustment data in the attachments.
The stevens had 35mm spacers under the stem - that was default. Never changed anything

Stuff I measured by myself:
- From bottom to top of handlebar I got 100,5cm
- saddle size 130mm
- source for more data: https://www.stevensbikes.de/2024/de/de/gravel/alloy/gavere/ There you find also stem size etc.

Didnt think choosing a frame could be that hard and complicated :D

only the drawings, but that was enough for me. For a proper fit i needed a shorter stem (80-70mm) so integrated handlebars were out of question, as they did not offer one with such short stem. I hope we understood each other and they will send compatible headset/spacers  :D

Are you liking the stem and bar? Is it internally routed?

Do you have a link to the spacers and the handlebar? I only found default round shaped spacers on ali. Does mondince ship these aero style spacers?

I have got this stem with spacers. Very decent quality

Was it neccesary to run that spacer from mondince first under the stem?

Hello.
Here is the link to stem and handlebar. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005010320677123.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.23.23321802cqG0F4
I realy like that the cable is under, and not inside. Makes it realy easy.
The headset spacers are included.

Part of what makes it difficult may just be that both sizes are equally suited for you. Which, at the end of the day, is perhaps a good problem to have.

Leg length for size L should be fine if I am doing my adding and subtracting correctly:
1. 782mm saddle height - 520mm seat tube length = 262mm
2. If we assume you get a 350mm seat post that has a 100mm minimum insertion length and your saddle stack is 30mm, you still have room for adjustment if needed (350mm - 100mm + 30mm = 280mm, so 18mm more than the required 262mm)

And I don't think your arms would be too short because both the L and XL frames have shorter reach compared to the Stevens.

Saddle-to-handlebar drop may require some pondering. The L frame would see you 39.6mm lower against the Stevens (see Size L diagram), for a total drop of 70mm. You can raise the handlebar, I don't know how much room there is for adjustment, however. A reasonably quick test would be to (temporarily) remove all the spacers from your Stevens and see how you get on with that position. If you are comfortable, size L is a good option.

Did exactly this. Moved all the spacers to the upside of the handlebar (looked shit af) and rode about 2hrs and did 56km. At first I thought that it was way more sportive. After some minutes I adapted and felt way more agile, speedy (i definitely was faster than before - i like). at the end of the ride I cant even tell much difference. But overall I liked this ride with 35mm lower handlebar.

No pain anywhere (except my butt thats normal). I felt a slightly little bit more pressure on my hands when I had them on the hoods but it was not unrideable.

Overall:

- The position felt good (8–10/10)
- Felt strange at first, then athletic/awesome, and normal by the end
- I could ride in this position for a long time
- No numbness
- No neck issues
- No shoulder issues
- No lower back issues
- Breathing was fine
- Could push hard
- Still okay after 2h20
- Didn’t want to go any higher
- Even fingers didn’t go numb anymore
- Nothing was worse except the look :D

I guess size L it is. will tinker around with some paintjobs now

Good luck with the customs. Yes, the headset works well for me. I have done 450km.
